Remove the 60 FPS limiter FC 26

Hey guys, I found a limiter in the game's text file. If you're experiencing a 60 FPS limit, check this feature immediately. Look at my screenshot and carefully check your settings, especially the line where TARGET_FRAME_RATE defaults to 60 FPS. YOU NEED TO SET IT TO "0" so that the FPS is based on your game settings and your monitor's support. To find the settings, press Win + R, then %localappdata%, then the EA Sports FC 26 folder, and then find fcsetup.ini. Change the desired values and save.

IMPORTANT! After saving the changes to fcsetup.ini, right-click it and check the "read-only" box in the properties and save.

Otherwise, the game will overwrite the default settings every time and revert to the previous values.

Unfortunately, the solution worked for only one day, and the problem returned.😞

  • Be careful, I wrote about what's important to consider every time you log into the game, and you need to turn off dynamic fps every time in the game itself, in the Display section, at the very bottom. Due to a developer error, it's activated every time. Watch it again and read it. You can do it.

IMPORTANT! After saving the changes to fcsetup.ini, right-click it and check the "read-only" box in the properties and save.

Otherwise, the game will overwrite the default settings every time and revert to the previous values.

This is actually incorrect. You might as well skip that step, because the game ignores the read‑only attribute and overwrites the file anyway.

You can test this yourself by setting the file as read‑only, keep it open in an editor, launch the game and tab out of the game and when you return to the editor you’ll see the “This file has been modified by another program” prompt and if you the check the fcsetup.ini properties, the read‑only box will have been unchecked automatically.

As for G‑Sync Compatible: I assume it’s enabled mainly for the visual benefit (less tearing and smoother motion). But if your goal is to eliminate as much input latency as possible, you should turn it off.
No, it doesn’t add a massive amount, roughly around 2–5 ms extra in most setups but when you’re on a high‑refresh‑rate display the loss is a bit more pronounced.

I’m on a 400 Hz monitor, where each frame takes about 2.5 ms, so an extra 2–3 frames of input lag translates to around 5–7 ms at the output. That’s precisely the kind of benefit that high‑Hz setups are meant to provide, so intentionally adding back that delay with G‑Sync Compatible seems counterproductive if your main focus is responsiveness rather than visual smoothness.

I'm writing this as I've tested it, and it still works. Just launch the game beforehand and check whether the overwrite has occurred. The only thing that changes is the frame rate limit, which for some reason resets to the default when you launch the game. That's the reason for the change in the text file. Simply set it to OFF in the game, and the text file is overwritten with "0." That's the whole idea. Smoothness, responsiveness, fast gameplay. If you're writing this, it means that other technology is influencing these settings. I've never had this message before. So, don't write "WRONG" here. Figure out your setup, and I'm giving general recommendations. Everything works perfectly for me to this day, just as I configured it.

Changes made AFTER the game has been launched are not applied, how do you not know this? Don't give out tips if you have no clue how read-only works.

No, it doesn't reset if you leave read-only unticked.

There is however a bug in-game if you have a monitor with high refresh rate, where it shows 60Hz eventhough it's 400Hz(built-in refresh rate overlay confirms this). If I were to change any setting in-game, 400Hz wouldn't be available in full screen.
