Severe FPS Drops After Halftime – Possible Memory Leak (PC, RTX 3050)

Platform: PCSystem Specs:CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (8 cores / 16 threads, 3.2 GHz)GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (6 GB VRAM)RAM: 16 GBStorage: NVMe SSDOS: Windows 11 (fully updated)Driver: NVIDIA 560.70 (also tested with 556.12 – no difference)Display: External monitor via HDMI, 144Hz refresh rate

Issue Description:The game runs smoothly at first, but after halftime (usually in the second half), gameplay begins to stutter heavily. Noticeable micro-freezes and frame drops appear during:

normal gameplay after the 60th–70th minute

instant replays and camera transitions

the pause menu or post-match screen

sometimes even in the main menu after finishing a match

This issue does not occur in every match type. It is most noticeable in Premier League stadiums (Old Trafford, Etihad, Emirates, Anfield, etc.). Other leagues (La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga) run much smoother under identical conditions.

Graphics Settings Tested:Resolution: 1920x1080 (Fullscreen)FPS Cap: 60Rendering Quality: Medium / High (tested both)Shadows: MediumCrowd Quality: LowAnti-Aliasing: TAAVSync: OffDLSS: QualityMotion Blur: OffSideline Characters: Off

I also tested with crowd completely disabled and lighting on low — the issue persists.

Observations and Hypotheses:

The stuttering appears only after halftime, suggesting a possible memory leak or resource overflow in the Frostbite engine.

The issue may be tied to high-detail crowd rendering or stadium atmosphere assets (banners, flags, lighting effects in Premier League stadiums).

The problem sometimes continues after the match ends, affecting menu navigation and controller response until the game is restarted.

Restarting the match temporarily improves performance, but the stutter always returns in the second half.

This issue was not present immediately after installation — it appeared after recent patches or updates.

Troubleshooting Already Tried:

Verified game files on Steam

Updated NVIDIA drivers

Reinstalled DirectX and Visual C++

Forced DirectX 11 mode (-dx11)

Disabled VSync and background apps

Cleared EA App cache

Played offline

Tested different HDMI cables and internal display

None of these resolved the issue permanently.

Expected Behavior:Smooth and consistent framerate throughout the match and menus, without stutters or input lag spikes after halftime or in specific leagues.

Additional Notes:I can provide short video clips or logs if needed. Please forward this to the technical QA team, as it seems related to stadium rendering or memory handling after halftime.

This is the same thing that's happened to me just today, 2nd half the game becomes unplayable.

  • It's useless, they haven't done anything about this problem for a month now.

Hopefully they'll fix it somehow, at the very beginning the game didn't sutter that much, but now it's barely playable.

As far as I'm concerned, it's related to a cache directory where the game should empty it by itself but it doesen't.

EA Support, can we get a reply on this?

    Many thanks.
