Unplayable above 90fps when it had been 120 before this weekend
Bit of a weird one. Despite the well documented bugs, fc26 had ran pretty smoothly graphics-wise since release. However this weekend I started to get noticeable freezes similar to that of lag spikes, where the game then tries to catch up with itself after a few seconds and shows a sped up version of the events. Annoying, but not too bad. This persisted but to the point where these pauses would be upwards of 15-30 seconds, causing countless games to be lost.
Weirdly enough, the prompt to say that I was not actively playing would still come up and go away if I wiggled the stick as it normally would - only the on pitch stuff would be frozen. However, if I tried to alt+tab out it would then freeze my task bar and other windows (discord/opera/etc.).
I first assumed this would be a connection error as it was so similar to the lag spikes but the fact that it was effecting the rest of my PC caused me to think maybe it was hardware. I updated my drivers (including an NVidia one) but the issue persisted.
I went through all my graphical settings and altered them, and have since found that it is only able to run smoothly BELOW 120fps, which is an absolutely atrocious stuttering mess.
But the weirdest part is I had it running smoothly at 144hz and 144fps prior to this with zero issue, the only problems have come from the most recent update.
I have done so much trouble shooting including but not limited to;
- repairing on the EA app
- Re-installing the EA app
- Re-installing and repairing EA's Javelin Anti-Cheat on FC 26
- Changing the preferences for FC 26 in the NVIDIA Control Panel
- Lowering my graphics from High to medium
- Changing my Ram Speed in my BIOS
- Altering refresh rate/fps in fcsetup.int in the game's appdata
yet the game still forces me to play at a low-res, stuttering and delayed 90 fps if I want to be able to play at all.
How has this happened? It often seems the story with FC games. It runs smoothly then an unnecessary update that changes next to nothing comes along and absolutely knackers all the functioning parts of the game (however few that may be).
I'd really like a fix for this as its currently wasting my money I spent on not only the game which is now borderline unplayable, but also the hardware I have for my PC.
