My opponents have plot armor

I keep getting matched with opponents of similar skill, but the gameplay is something else. It's like they have plot armor.

In one game I end the first half with 2/5 shots on target, meanwhile my opponent is 2/2. In the second half I'm dominating, but I just can't score. It feels like my finesse shots have no power or they hit the post. I'm 1v1 with the GK and he manages to parry it wide with his pinky. My opponent again has what feels like 2 shots on target and scores both of them. I finally score with 10 minutes to go. He proceeds to pass in the backfield. I manage to poke the ball away from his CDM. As I'm about to recover the ball, my ST stumbles and does what can only be described as a back pass to the CB.

In other games it feels like my players get downgraded after I take the lead. My CB tackles the opponent, but doesn't chase down the loose ball. The ST is able to regain control of it and score. My opponent sends in the cross from the corner kick. I win the ball with my CB or GK and send it to the RB. He takes 3 control touches before attempting to clear the ball, which allows the ST to tackle him and score.

I lost a bunch of games yesterday, but not like this. My opponents were actually skillful and and it was a lot of fun. There were games where my opponents took an early lead and I fought back to make it competitive. Other games were real back and forth contests.

I needed 1 win to complete the Unbreakable League, but it took me 4 tries to finally achieve it because of nonsense gameplay listed above. It honestly feels like this is done purposely to get me to continue playing more games than necessary.
