Mass Effect LE takes 5-10 minutes to start

Every time I start the game, it shows up the "preparing" screen for a while and then it disappears. But after 5-10 minutes the game actually starts. After start the game runs fine with no issue.

What I'm trying to say is that this "delay" of starting the game is "unnatural" and no reason for it to be this delayed thinking there is some issue with the game.

I fully uninstalled and reinstalled EA app but it still delays the launch of the game.

It seems to be a game-specific upload problem, so I would leave it here for the time being.

    Lets test something else:
Make sure Steam and EA app are closed.

    1. Disable the internet connection of your PC.
    2. Go to your "C:\Users\<Your User Name>\Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\” folder.
    3. Move the "ME1, ME2, and ME3 folders to a different playce. (The folders must be gone from the original path! Crating a backup of the save files can't hurt either. )
    4. Start a new game. (The cloud save files should be purged by this.)
    5. Close the game
    6. Copy your saves back and test.

If that doesn't help, move the folders for the games you don't play, as well as all but the last 10 saves for the games you do play, out of the above path and test again.

It's also worth looking to see if Windows security features such as "Controlled folder access" are interfering.

This worked, but it was my fault 😅

I have put ME3TweaksModManager folder into the ...\Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\ folder so they are all organized in one place.

So the EA App was probably trying to sync up all my mods archives and backup of the games (several GBs) along the save files (and the reason it took a long time to launch and sync up on closing). After moving the ME3TweaksModManager folder away from the save files, the game launches instantly now.

    Thank you for your support.

This prompt me to try this in Offline mode as I didn't thought EA App support it. Well, the game starts instantly when I press play. Unfortunately the host file addition did not work in making it start faster. As for the cloud syncs, they do eventually sync up, just takes a long time.

So this issue seems to be definitely EA App related, not Mass Effect and should be move to it's category. holger1405

If you don't care about EA cloud sync for your Mass Effect games and you have a local backup of your saves and your gamer profile then you can add this to your hosts file in Windows:

    cloudsync-prod.s3.amazonaws.com 127.0.0.1

Next time you try to launch the game you will get an error "Your latest sync was interrupted, blah, blah, (EC:10608)" and options to launch game and cancel.

The reason you might be getting this is that your upload to their server is slow and you have a lot of save files locally. Sync is probably failing at some point and game launches and keeps retrying on every launch.

I should also add that EA gives you only 1GB of save space so if you have more they will ask you to delete your saves in order to be able to start the game. It's ridiculous that cloud sync can't be disabled in the EA App and people have to resort to workarounds like this.

Yes, but this issue persist without mods as well. I troubleshooted without any mods installed as well.

I think the issue is with the EA App rather than MELE as when you launch the game the Launcher starts first which does not have any mods. Also after game exit and closing the EA App I get the "waiting for cloud sync" window stuck forever as the app is stuck syncing cloud data.

The game launched normally (quickly) a month or so ago and the system has not been modified since then.

    Do you use Mods?

Please add a DxDiag to your next reply.

A DxDiag is an overview of your PCs technical features and recent software errors.
There is no personal info in it except for the “Machine name” in the second row. (You might delete the “Machine name” line if you wish too.)

    How to create a DxDiag:

    1. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Copy and paste or type "DxDiag" (Without the quotes) into the new field. > ENTER
    3. Wait until the green bar is gone > Click on "Save all information"
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Attach the DxDiag file to your reply (paper clip symbol)
