Hi I have bought the game on STEAM and it's supposed to work in Linux but it does not start.
There is some "EA-APP" that tries to install and then nothing happens.
How do I start the game??

I got the error message "System.PlatformNotSupportedException: Video driver not supported" when I ran Steam from Console. So I checked the Nvidia drivers. It was on the recommended driver for my Nvidia GTX 980 Ti. Linux Mint suggested that I should run the 535 driver, but I changed it for the 580 driver and now the game works perfect.
I don't have a Linux installation itm, so I can't really test anything.
I would recommend to search support at Steam or the websites and discords of the tools.
holger1405 And the error codes, like "error code: INST-14-1627" does come from Steam. Steam is completely unable to run the EA-APP, I have tried Proton, 10.0-4, experimental, hotfix, GE-proton10-33...
holger1405 On Lutris I can load the EA-APP, and I can confirm that I have logged in to EA and that I have the game, but Lutris cannot load the game since Lutris just points to Steam, and Steam cant launch the game. Even if I have the EA-APP up and running, the game wont launch.
Is that on Lutris or Proton?
Now I get error message EA APP encountered an error and couldn't finish installing. (error code: INST-14-1627)
It's however released as "working" for the Steam Deck so it should also run on any other Linux installation. It seems to be very random, some people does not have any problems at all.
It's important that EA checks compatibility also with the Linux community before releasing their own launchers, since so many play on Linux.
Hi, thanks for the suggestions, I will try with Lutris but the more I read on this the more of a "hit or miss" this seems to be. It's very inconsistent.

The game may run through the Proton compatibility layer, but is not officially supported by EA. I saw that there was an update for ME Legendary Edition very recently, so maybe that means the EA app now have issues on Linux. In that case it can sometimes take a few days for either EA App or Proton to be patched to restore functionality.
