Pros & Cons

I’m 32 years old. I have been skating since I was 7 and was enthralled when the skate series first came out having played all the THPS leading up to that. There was nothing better than using the sticks on the controller to flick, skate realistic and have a little fun doing the impossible. Having been really excited to start early access here are the things I’ve noticed and wanted to share my feedback. I’m excited to hear your thoughts family.

pros -

  • the map is pretty fun
  • some new tricks added (720 flips, slappys, wallies) etc.
  • joined challenges and throw downs
  • the amount of people playing without the clashing
  • free world play (to me is cool due to gaming evolution)

cons -

  • no games of “s-k-a-t-e”
  • lack of sponsorship (I’d buy rip chips if I could ride some numerics or have some dickies on…) I’d assume some sponsors are contracted into the THPS 3+4 reboot, having seen Reynolds new 933’s on there. The re-release timing was strategic.

  • lack of staple tricks (impossibles, pressure flips)
  • lack of circus tricks while some are present (combine a 360 flip & double flip = 360 double flip, dolphin flips) there’s enough layout on the controller to make this possible.

  • lack of systems (Nintendo switch 2)
  • getting booted (lost connection) while playing
  • unrealistic wait times (says 1s & I need to keep resetting my system to make the entry back into the game work )
  • some completed challenges are not saving.
  • no mics (it’d be cool to talk to my friends or new shredders, after all that’s what skateboarding is really about)

overall, I enjoy playing the game. It’s fun to take a break from other games. I play and enjoy what I truly love skateboarding. After all skateboarding is one of the most popular activities in today’s society, although has changed a lot it will always have a special meaning to people. I hope the game can stay open and fix the bugs while it is on pre-release or early access I still believe that some of these things can be fixed if the game plays to evolve, and adapt to the universe as skateboarding has, whilst staying true to what skateboarding is.

what are your thoughts?
