Xbox One X crashes and turns off completely when crates are opened

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
What is your issue related to? In-Game Store & Crates
Summarize your bug Xbox One X crashes and turns all the way off when I open any crate ever since the latest patch. Game seems to run fine as long as I don't open a crate but as soon as I do, the xbox turns off. When I turn it back on, it goes back to the system intro screen (ie, full power off/reboot).
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? sithewok
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 02/08/18
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM)
In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault
What is your time zone? PNT (MST) - GMT - 7:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open a crate.
What happens when the bug occurs? The system immediately fully powers down after the crate opens before looking at the cards.
What do you expect to see? I would like to be able to open crates again

    @Sithewok Thank you for the post, that's quite an odd issue. II think the best way forward is tp to check if this is related to your account or your install.


    Can you try creating a new account or having someone play on their account on your system, and see if the issue occurs again?

    I'd also like to mention that - while thankfully I don't have this exact issue - my oneX always makes "funny sounds" when I open crates, and the vents also go crazy. For me, this has been the case since the launch of the game. (The weird loud pitched noises also happen at loading screens sometimes.)

    @Sithewok How long have you owned the Xbox One X? I'm assuming you have restarted it, uninstalled and re-installed the game from scratch? Assuming also you have removed your game profile and re-added it after a restart? Perhaps checking the system to see when the Xbox was updated last? Perhaps you have considered taking the Xbox One X to factory specs. 
    Are you wired or wireless? Not that it makes much of a difference since you state the game functions normally except for this issue.

    All I can say is best of luck. My Xbox One X was less than 30 days old, and only Star Wars Battlefront II Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition destroyed any functioning aspect. "Please try again For some reason STAR WARS Battlefront II took too long to start. (0x8027025a)" I kept getting that error for 27 straight days. 


    Have you tried calling EA Help? Emailing EA Help? Microsoft?

    I have the exact same issue. Hard crash when opening crates.

    @bioroid I returned by Xbox One X, perhaps you should do the same. If less than 30 days old of course, or at least report directly to Microsoft.

    Hi. Sorry for not replying more quickly. I have tried other accounts and had the same issue. It is no longer happening all of the time, though I have not played recently. I am still receiving the error code about not being able to five me my rewards every time that I start the game and I wonder if that is possibly related?

    I've had it since day one. This is the only game that I have had crash on me, though, so I hesitate to think that the problem is with the system.

    Same with me.  Day one Project Scorpio Xbox One X owner.  This always crashes every time its about to reveal the crate contents.  Maybe they didn't test that part on the Xbox One X and it crashes the system hard.  Every time.  EA will blame the hardware, MS will blame the game.  They need to work together to solve this problem.

    I just went into the game OPTIONS and turned off some of the effects and it didn't crash when I got another crate. Will see if it crashes tomorrow morning on the daily crate. Maybe the graphics option values got corrupted and it blew out the shader.

    Ok, so it still seems to crash on a warm boot, but didn't crash after the following cold boot. ☹️
