Can we get a consistent 'rule' on being in mulitple factions

The game is getting more and more confusing on how they are deciding what factions to put toons in.

Originally we had two issues the first was the Asajj and Savage debate - neither of them was apprentice to the Sith Master of their time so either both of them should've been Sith or neither should be (though Savage would have no faction in the game without the Sith tag).

The second initial debate was the 'timeline' debate. We had a Clone Wars Chewie who wasn't a rebel and will never get synergies with Han cause he doesn't know him.

It seemed like early on they didn't want toons to be in multiple factions - Asajj was NS so no Sith, Clone Wars Chewie came out so he could be scoundrel (which he never was back then by the way) and not Rebel, Old Ben wasn't made a Rebel even though he was helping the Rebels out just as much or more than either Luke or Han is Ep IV. This made some sense as they wanted to keep the synergies from being too powerful.

Then they went and broke the initial idea. Made Lando both a rebel and a scoundrel, introduced a bounty hunter tag, but didn't make Asajj one of them either. They also have Raid Han (original gear) and Farmboy Luke neither of whom was yet a Rebel, but both have that tag. Introduce THE Emperor who joined Vader as both Sith and Empire, so now we had multiple cross faction toons who made there factions much better (the Lando move almost destroyed the game for a couple months making him a rebel, now you barely see him anymore).

And it continues to get worse. Now we have a boy, who hasn't been formerly trained by a Jedi Master being called a Jedi, a yougling/padawan who never finished his training is also a Jedi (don't watch the show but I think that is what Kanaan is, could be wrong) and a bounty hunter who is not being called a bounty hunter (because it was her former career, just like Lando and Han used to be scoundrels/smugglers right?) .

Now I assume she isn't a BH so you can't throw her on a Boba lead BH team to speed her up, but why create her and not let her synergize with the only other person wearing Mandalorian armor

Can we please have some consistency,

Rant over
  • Most, if not all examples/arguments you are making are player made and have nothing to do with what the devs have in mind when they make these choices.

They will never be consistent with the past, making toons fit a certain niche but not expand into another area is always going to be their goal. Or allowing a toon to span a bridge never before seen gives them more power, and we all know more power is the name of the game.
  • The lack of consistency is indeed a problem in my opinion. There seem to be more and more overlap with factions now, and some factions only have like 5 or 6 characters. Rebels have a ton, and with rebels there are quite a few different eras so it makes no sense. During the clone wars there was a great deal of collaboration with Jedi, and clones, but that has no synergy when Rebels from all these different time periods do. It doesn't make much sense to me.

Kanaan is a Jedi that left the order when Order 66 happened and he felt guilty for fleeing and leaving his master behind (I'm not sure how far along in his training he was though), whom got killed. He rejoined many years later when he began to bond with Ezra, and became his teacher.
  • Call it Jedi affiliation, Ezra doesn't have to be a Jedi but he still works with one, also I bet he can use the force so that could be another reason (haven't watched the show)
I don't think it is as bad as the scoundrels, nute gunray has synergy with lando

This argument is getting somewhat convoluted. Your rant was initially about formula for power in a game, which I get, but honestly disagreed with your assessment. This game is like Magic the Gathering in that it is all about the combos you can come up with to kill your opponent. Magic the gathering has had a slow but inexorable power creep since it's inception in the early 90's. This is the major reason it is still being played today. If they hadn't continued to up the ante, everyone would have gotten bored with it and moved on. It's also the formula they use behind anime like Dragonball and Naruto. Which have both enjoyed 10+ years of success as well.

Now you have switched to an argument about flavor as a means of saying it needs to be changed. The two arguments are often contradictory. In order to honor each character, they all need to be op... but if everyone's op, no one is. Then we have the problem where if no one is op, then there's no challenge for us to beat, and no goal to strive towards either.

A game without power creep is one that you hurry up and beat and put it away. That is not at all the goal behind this type of game.

  • Actually savage was made an apprentice when Darth maul proclaimed himself master and became a rival to sidious.

According to cg this asajj is after she was betrayed by dooku, so she shouldnt be a separatist but should be a bounty hunter instead, she fought along side kid boba bossk and dengar in clone wars after her sisters where slaughtered by grevious
