Cantina signal drops issue

This post is not just about drop rates. It is the possible rewards shown, what each reward's drop rate/ probability  is. Do players know what they are getting if they win a reward? I see no separation between 2 signal and 1 signal drops on the sheet. They are combined there. But in the game, the probability of each type is determined differently. I understand you are trying to address the question but this sheet doesn't do that.  Again, having to reference some 3rd party document does not help players making decisions in-game. This really needs to be documented somewhere in game. 

CG have been asked to provide this information before, but they never have and probably never will. Though, if I could offer one ray of hope, they never used to tell us the odds on character shard drops paid for with crystals / real money either but now they do (though I suspect they were legally required to provide this). 

As for the drop rates, the community has figured them out by observation. Shards have a 1/3 probability to drop. We don’t need CG to confirm this because all the data points to this, and anyone who tracks drops over a period of time will see the same. Gear depends on the colour, as does signal data. Omicrons are much much lower than pretty much anything else. 

Even when something less common happens, like a Galactic Chase for a new ship, the community have worked out the drop rate within a few hours of the event going live. I remember one particularly unhappy evening on the forums when a Galactic Chase on ship energy had a 2% per energy spend drop rate when the previous Chase on cantina energy had a 4% drop rate. 

Cristoph’s data is very interesting (I think I may have contributed to it when I tracked thousands of results of mod farming) and I think you’ll get the information you want from a source like that long before CG ever say anything on the matter.

I think that for transparency sake, players should know the drop rate for rewards and what the rewards are per node. After all, they are spending money on this and should have a good grasp of the mechanisms behind the scenes while gambling on refreshes. I also think it is fair to have the same mechanics between gear and shards as far as rewards. It seems like what you described are slightly different behaviors that are baked into the game without any documentation explaining it. Players have sort of figured out how it works and have expectations in place but they haven't questioned "why is it like that?"

0-2 would be better. Im still not sure CG is being transparent when showing possible rewards without also displaying the % drop rate. An example is  the omicron reward.  Perhaps moving those rewards which are rarely winnable to "bonus" would be more indicative that this item is not normally going to be dropped. The chance is x% for this reward. This could allow for separating the 2 signal data vs the 1 signal data. Im assuming the drop rate for 2 is lower than for 1.  Normally it is 1. Expect 1. But if you get the bonus, it is 1 plus a bonus 1. Can you get the bonus 1 without the initial 1 or is it calculated after already winning 1. I have no idea. That's because there is no transparency on this in-game.  That's kind of the crux of the issue and I wish there a way to bridge that gap.

Sorry for being so long winded. I just want clarity. I enjoy the game. I just don't know how I can spend when unsure what my odds are. I would prefer guaranteed drops across the board. Sure, there would need to be some scaling to make that work but it's not guessing and hoping for the drop rate gods to intervene when refreshing a node.

Let’s not forget things like the Bonus Reward box on the episode reward track, which states potential currency rewards of 350-2,000. I’m sure we all accept that not every possible value in that range is obtainable, but I can’t see any point in the game displaying exactly which outcomes are possible. 

Wanting this “fixed” seems incredibly low priority to me. Wanting an official announcement on the “issue” is baffling. It is what it is. 

I feel "Possible Rewards" is enough of a caveat, but I think we are just going to go round in circles here. You asked for examples that show the rewards display the maximum possible, which have been provided. I didn't get the rewards as displayed (1 of each mod piece against a maximum of 3, 4 of one gear piece vs a maximum of 6). Daily Challenges (STR, TAC etc) also only display the maximum rewards on the tab. 

I think what you are suggesting is Signal Data should have it's drops listed as "0-2", which is a fine suggestion until we circle back to character shards. They'd need listed as "0 or 1"/"0 or 2". I personally think Dev time would be better spent on Bug Fixes and QoL features rather than this, but all feedback is noted by the studio.

I believe those are broken as well.  For character shards, it shows 2. You either get two or none.  It is not a max of two. The possible rewards are shown right there.  But then for gear shards you are saying the rewards lists the maximum (when you can get less than what it says even though you did indeed get that gear). That makes no sense.  I'm not arguing that it has or has not been this way.  But for the rewards to have a different definition based on the content of the reward node is bad game design and bad for players. If this is single drop, then say so. If there is sometimes a bonus 1 gear, say so. That is different than claiming possible 2 gear.  If all of this is stated in the game itself, on some informational page, please direct me to that. Otherwise please fix the rewards for gear nodes. 

It's exactly the same for every other node in the game and is working as designed (so not a bug). Take out character shards, as they are either one or two depending on if they are accelerated or not. Gear, mod materials and signal data across all nodes is listed as the maximum drop. Since their inclusion into the game, signal data nodes have have possible drops of 0, 1 or 2.

I need CG to chime in on this. I understand how it functions. What you just described is different than every other node in the game. I get that it has been this way, but something is wrong.  If I go and do a battle and it shows 2 shards for a character as a possible reward, I will never get just one.  Never. In the same way, If it is single drop, you will never get two for a single battle. This is because the rewards per battle are declared right there by the node. The probability is based on whether you get the reward or not per roll. Again, if the reward is 2, then we should get 2. If the reward is 1 or 2, then it should show both in the rewards section. Otherwise it is ambiguous what the reward even is.

To say "it shows the max that you can get". I guess I need an example from another node to make that point. I have seen ranges posted for rewards ex:2-4 zetas for the dathomir event. And the reward isn't 1 zeta. It is somewhere between 2 and 4. That makes sense and aligns to the other nodes.
