I've seen this suggestion many times, though not with the 1-hr time limit. The idea of a time limit on the snapshot is new to me. It's not a bad idea. A little extra programming up front saves quite a lot of memory/storage.
That said, if they were to implement this, I'd think 1 hour is too short. I know a lot of people who spend more than an hour on the raid. Many of those people are folks who want to 2man or 3man the top tier and are willing to wait for RNG to line up to make it work. These are exactly the folks that are using remodding to get every advantage short of relic'ing up another character. I can imagine other scenarios as well where an hour isn't long enough.
8 hours seems plenty and to spare. 6 hours should be plenty and maybe some to spare, but IDK how others play the game. 2-4 hours might be a sweet spot, but again, IDK.

MasterSeedy, yeah that's a good point. 4-6 hours would probably cover about 95% of use cases. They could also make it configurable, so the user could have an option for: 2hr, 4hr, 6hr, etc..
