GA still defective, and short changing us

Please go complain about inflated GP somewhere else. It's a perfectly valid complaint that it affects matchmaking, but it's irrelevant to this thread. If someone is so jaded that they hate GA, then they aren't forced to screw over their opponents by setting one team, then sitting out.

Another one of these threads? I hate to be that guy, but there is a search function on the forums, this kind of thing it feels like will be brought up till the end of time.

So what if they set less defences, its their fault, just live with it and move on, nothing to complain about here when you get a free win. At least its not like us losing hard node attempts or us losing shards for the hard to get TB characters or us putting up with a Carrie who hates everyone.

It’s more about him missing rewards and content from the game. Not setting defenses has been solved. This is a different issue. This is someone setting one team, leap frogging the auto deploy.

For those that said missing 70k isn’t an issue - please do an event and not get everything you were promised and see how you feel about it.

Post a comparison of your roster vs his... maybe not.. maybe the player knew he was done just from the matchup. Quit crying over the free win

The forums are a fickle mistress. If one posts roster comparisons/discord comparisons for GA and won, people act like the above poster. If people do the same and lost, people tell them to stop whining and "git gud".

I'm confused - so is GA supposed to be a "fair match-up" where all players in the 8 person pool have a decent chance to win if they play smart, and strategize/synergize on both offense and defense? Or is it supposed to encourage spending by pitting players against others who have stronger rosters through better gear/mods? (which doesn't make any logical sense from the standpoint of the players that have the stronger rosters...).

But I agree with the OP - regardless as to the intent of matchup strength, the design shouldn't allow one player to intentionally diminish the possible rewards of opponents by NOT playing the mode.

This would only be true if you regularly faced the same opponents like you do in squad arena. I dunno about you but I've never faced the same opponent twice in GA. Even then, a few credits isn't enough to make any tangible short term difference, so it's still a crappy thing to do.

It's not strategic. It's spiteful.

People are still complaining about TB bloat impacting GA matchups? TB was introduced 20 months ago. If you haven't taken the opportunity to build out whatever squads you "fluffed" to "maximize" TB rewards, that's on you.

Let's do a little math - let's assume in this 3v3 round you had to place 10 teams(3M to 4M GP) - that's 30 toons on offense, 30 toons on defense, and 16 toons for fleet (I know there are multi-crew ship so I'm assuming some overlap with toons you use in the squad component).

Let's further assume a max toon GP of say 22k and a max ship GP of 60k.

76 toons X ~22k per maxed toon = 1.67M toon GP
16 ships X ~60k per ship = 960k fleet GP

That's 2.63M "usable" GP required to more than adequately field and combat 10 squads and one fleet. There's more than enough room to overcome whatever fluff you've got on that roster. Success in GA is much more about squads and mods than it is about GP. People that understand that win a lot of GAs. People that don't, complain about how bloated their roster is from a guild event that we've been doing for more than a year and a half.

I don't want a free win. I want to play the game mode against someone else who actually tries. Also it wasn't a "free win." It cost 700k. I would rather face a brutal opponent who outmatches me a bit where I actually have to try hard, and might lose, and I at least have a chance to get the full reward.

Yeah, that's pretty poor sportsmanship. Hope you PM'd your opponentand let him know.
I just played a round where my opponent didn't set a D, and so all his squads were g12 zeta'd heroes. zThrawn, zWampa, zChewie was particularly tough, as was CLS, Revan, JTR. It was actually more challenging than usual since there was nothing saved for offense - autofill just took the top 33. Managed to clear 9 squads of 11 before I ran out. Before that, I was going to suggest the game autofill all empty slots, even if a partial D was set. Now I'm not so sure.

If they don't set any defenses it will auto fill them so you at least get something to fight, and you can collect the credits for the wins. honestly too bad... you won... I can't beat darth revan and malak and all the other nonsense these guys have.... I don't set any toons but 3 so I have the max chance to get everything I can out of the match.... I don't care about YOU or your ability to get credits or anything... I don't care. YOU WON you get the 12 modulators you get the zetas, you get the mod slicing stuff...I get nothing because the matchmaking determines I get nothing before I even play.

I am going to maximize everything I can and if it hurts you and the bad programming does not give you your credits for won areas I don't care........ I don't care. I'm going to finish in LAST and I'm going to maximize what I can get which is garbage but I'm going to max that garbage...

I'm sorry you're bad at the game. If you set all worthless low gear garbage in every territory then you get more points you know. That's actually I viable strategy if you are outmatched. I've gone full offense against players with better rosters than me. You can actually win that way since you get all the points from setting defenses. You just have to attack efficiently. But your strategy is to throw free points away, and screw a stranger out of credits, so that everyone loses. That seems well thought out.

complain to the devs you did not get your credits...don't complain about guy setting 3 toons....complain to the devs who refuse to give credits for taken areas....

It's all on the Devs not the players.. you have revan and malak I'm not playing you period you get the free win I'm going to save all my toons to practice in case someday I have a team that can beat DR...

I am complaining to the devs. That's why the tread title says the game mode is broken, and I put it on the official forum. However the reason it's broken is that people are childish, spoiled sports. If leave the door open for people to be nasty, and ruin things for others for no good reason then people like you will do it. So yeah, I'm asking the devs to prevent that.

If you screw someone over for no reason then does it matter if it's personal?

Why don't you go start a thread about how disappointed you are you don't have Revan, and Malak instead of proving by your delightful ranting that GA needs to be tweaked to prevent people from ruining it with poor sportsmanship.

EDIT GA championships done correctly will alleviate all your complaining on this subject as hopefully losers will play losers and you can go get crushed by "the good" players.

Everyone will be happy. We still have to see what they are going to do but I'm pretty sure they have done their homework and will create an environment where people actually want to play not get stuck with the farcical nonsense we have now... So give it some time pretty sure the rework will dry up all those whale tears in the best way possible.

I searched "GA", and "Grand Arena" on the forum, and didn't find anything on this specific topic except for a thread started after I started this one. I went through 8-10 pages of irrelevant topics before I decided to start my own. Is that good enough, or should I ask your permission next time?

Also, I don't have whale tears since I don't spend. F2P is the only way for me. I just like actually getting to play content even though sometimes I get opponents much stronger than me, and sometimes I get weaker ones. And I like to actually get the full rewards possible from an event. Sorry that's offensive I guess.

And if think throwing free points away by setting only one defense is a strategy then yeah. That makes you bad at the game. Not a dig. Simple math really.
