GAC Scorings

I’ve been wondering for a while now exactly how you’re ranked within the 8 spots at the end of each set. Is it primarily a win/loss calculation, or are your overall banners factored in?

For context, there’s been a few rounds where I’ve been full cleared and have known I don’t have the capacity to full clear them. In this case, would taking out the teams I could boost my overall score and final ranking at the end, or am I just wasting my time?

Lmao what. 3 losses is 8th place. 1 win, 2 losses is places 5-7. 2 wins, 1 loss is places 2-4. 3 wins is 1st place. This determines your end-of-week loot, which is identical for the three players ranked 2-4 and for the three ranked 5-7. 1st place gets best loot, 8th place obviously worst loot.

Why would it be random when your ranking determines the loot you get? GAC isn't HSTR.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tracked brackets and eliminated that theory, but it’s so long ago I wouldn’t want to state that adamantly.

I’ll check this week and report back.

Edit: of course, even ifcrzydroid were correct, there must be another element to separating ranks 2-4 and 5-7, as it’s perfectly possible for two players in each of those categories to have won / lost matches in exactly the same rounds as another player.

I'm pretty sure it's by points you earned during the week; in other words, your win/loss order. The points you get for a win/loss decrease with each match. So like in week 1, it's 43, 41, 39.

    So round one, four people will be +43 and four will be -43. Round two, you have two +84, two +2, two -2, and two -84. Round three, the score changes will be +123 (rank 1), +45 (rank 2), +41 (3),  +37, (4), -37 (5), -41 (6), -45 (7), and -123 (8).

I’d hope that you know that ranks 1 and 8 are not at all random.

I’ve never seen any consistent explanation for the separation for ranks 2-4 or 5-7, though. I do know it’s not by ally code or by player ID, as I’ve checked this in the past when in a bracket with people I knew. It’s also nothing to do with banners earned either:

As harvestmouse suggests, it could be as simple as the rank you held before the bracket was created.

Thankfully it doesn’t matter at all, whatever the criteria actually is. I’m not sure why you don’t already know that you’d be wasting your time trying to finish in 5th rather than 7th, even if it was something you could influence.

Random? I don’t know if some communication got lost in transit, because I’m talking about the #1-#8 spot you get at the end of every three rounds

  • My feeling is that's it's totally random.  Or it might be your divisional placings coming into the bracket?  I don't think there's anything meaningful to it or anything you can do to affect it.
