Getting "double charged" for raid attempts

Finish your 5 raids before midnight so it doesn't happen?

Happened to me, and I thought it was reasonable. Don't think it's a bug, just finish attacks before midnight.

Seems to be WAI to me, I simply don't bother sending my 5th (generally weaker squad) in if it's close to the character refresh to avoid this occurring.

Dont think it's a bug? So the devs intentionally coded the game in such a manner to penalize players if they decide to play within a specific ten-minute time frame? I think not.

What if it wasn't my fifth attempt? What if I worked 14 hours today and got off at 11:30 PM, and this was my second attempt, which I launched directly after my first? What if I wanted to "bother" with a fifth attempt?

This happens with the ship arena too, but it does count towards your daily challenge so that's working as intended in my book

This is a valid point..
For example I was walking past the local bar the other night which closes at midnight, and it was 12:01am. But I really wanted to "bother" having a beer, so i slammed on the door of the bar screaming that there must be an error because I want a beer and I followed up with asking how they intend to fix this obvious issue.

So should they do the same for Arena and Fleet Shipment pay outs? I start a Arena match at 5:57pm (6:00pm payout) and finish the match at 6:01pm, I should get that counted towards my payout right? Because I wouldn't want to be "penalized" for not doing something, within a set time frame which never changes after all..

This. Just do your attacks in time, you know when character refresh is.

I think these are poor analogies. In the first example, I didn't slam on the door at 12:01, I came in at 11:57. They could have a policy in which no new beers are served after 11:30, but that's not the case. They sold me a beer, I should be allowed to sit down and finish it.

Your second analogy brings up a better point regarding timing and rewards, actually a tough one to refute, but it's not quite right. There's an 8:00 minute timer for fleets and 5:00 for squad arena, so it's very very clear when you need to start a battle in order to receive payout. Raids take an indefinite, varied amount of time. I think all this could be very easily fixed and avoided if the raid reset and character reset didn't sync.

You walk into bar at 11.57. You get that beer, but if you've not finished it by the time bar closes, you're kicked out, and half pint of beer stays there. Perfect analogy.
