GL value -not there

I've recently spoke with others who also feel the value of a GL is not proportional to what is costs. Every week I have a GL that loses to an ordinary, free lead like Grievous, or CLS. In some cases, these are GL 12 squads vs my R8 (which also) calls in to question the value of relics, relative to cost.

    This is more of a tangent to what you’re saying but you inadvertently touched on another issue.

    Firstly, in terms of what you’re saying. A GL shouldn’t be a sure thing. Ideally they should be used offensively for maximum utility out of the characters since they can be used to solo many teams out there. Defensively I don’t think it should be impossible but at least challenging to take out a GL with a non GL team.

    Now the issue I want to highlight that you mentioned is the cost to leading to the GL.

    Characters and such are fine. My issue, and purely my opinion, is that the light and dark currency grind is a dated and an unnecessary additional grind on top of an overly extensive grind. I would almost recommend to do away with that system completely as I don’t see any benefit whatsoever to anyone at all to have it in place.

    What I do think that CG have in their mind is that the additional grind will make people spend money on crystals to then refresh energy for the currency farm. But considering how far you need to get just for this grind to even start, they really need to give the players a break on the money they can squeeze out. First and foremost, this is a game. Sometimes they need to be reminded of that and hopefully listen.

    Define "challenging" though. Because if you're saying it can be done, but with lower banners consistently, then no. That defeats the purpose of Galactic Legends being "Galactic Legends". If there's still a high rate of failure, which makes it challenging, then sure. If GL's can be beaten by non-GLs consistently and without significant issue, then what's the point of calling them GL's? What's the point of putting all the resources, time, and effort into building them up if they aren't a roadblock for non-GL teams?

    It definitely doesn't help that Starkiller is looking like a GL killer, at least in GAC. If that's a consistent thing, then I wasted time, resources, relics, etc., on six GL's that I could've just saved to build four marquee characters to unlock one character? (Compared to the 15+ characters I needed to relic for each GL.) Compare that to Lord Vader that is the most resource intensive character in the game, but isn't the meta GL and a character unlocked by four marquees could beat him? Why would that make any sense at all.

    I can see what you’re saying. I mean challenging as in low banners but not a consistent win. Which is seemingly what you’re looking for. I certainly don’t think making a GL only beaten by GLs is the way to go though since it’s compounding some severe already existing issues. In GAC as an example, it isn’t impossible to beat someone with more GLs than you. But buffing the characters so they can’t be beaten by non GL teams mean will just be a “who has the more GLs” competition. Like I said that’s already sort of there, however would be compounded if ensured to be more like that.

    I’m not 100% disagreeing with you, let me make that clear. In fact I hate how poor SEE is in the game. Out of all the GLs he is the most non GL character out of the bunch. Geos can take him out quite easily too.
  • I'm farming LV myself right now, and I'm certainly not expecting it to be an unbeatable bulwark or IWIN button. LV will simply integrate into my roster and will give me more (powerful) options.

    Spending doesn't mean you should be granted more advantage in this game, other than it speeds up the farming process compared to not spending. The existence of non-GL counters is healthy for the game as it adds diversity.

    Also, I'm not free-to-play. Not a whale or kraken by any means, but I've spent where it suited me.
  • If you think GLs don't rule the game then stop farming them and see how far you get. No serious guild will want you because you are useless in TW and TB.. You will get steamrolled in GAC and get nowhere in conquest. Have fun. Personally, I won't farm anything but GLs until I have them all. There is nothing else of value in the game... Except executor, but we all know that is a GL too...

    This is a quite narrow view on the value of a GL. This game is not only GAC. Sure, with GAC as the main crystal income, it gained significance. But having a GC also boost your game in other game modes, which shall not be neglected. Having six GLs definitely give you more for your bucks in this regard than four marquees and starkiller.

    This I agree with. Given the time and effort to unlock, gear and relic a significant number of toons, to then have to spend another month+ grinding energy for unnecessary battles is frustrating. I probably would be OK with the character unlock but the ultimate unlock is a joke, especially the 2 battles for a portrait and surround you have to do before you even start the Ult grind.
