After one year, it will become permanent.

The GI was released on June 23, 2022, so he will be in the journey guide as "always playable" by June 23, 2023.
He was last playable on Dec 24, 2022.
All these dates to give you my best guess on when the event returns: March 25, 2023
I repeat, just a guess.

There's just as much chance that he doesn't come back until June as there is that he comes back in March.

They were never that precise. It was always "about a year" rather than "on the 366th day..."

Since they wouldn't change their release schedule for something like this, that means you're already talking +/- 2 weeks, and since things can bump the release schedule for various reasons, I'd say it's more like +4 to -2, or mid-June to late July.

While we can be hopeful it will be permanent by July 1, we shouldn't start actually getting antsy until Bastille Day.

Indeed.

One could argue chance has nothing to do with the date of his return given that CG is deciding when that date will be. However one could also argue that given the track record of CG knowing what they are doing it is entirely up to chance.

Can we get an update on this officially? Will the event come back again before it is permanent? This way we know and can plan accordingly
