Well.............. as Star Wars space pirates go...........who is more renowned?  

I like the idea of bringing in the red guy with a funny helmet and his crew.  That sounds cool.

I'm not sure I'm against a GL Hondo per se....... I just dislike the recent trend of bringing in repeat characters that aren't really much different (in terms of timeline and look) to a version of them we already have.

You're well missing out. The first few seasons are pretty childish, but get way better with the later ones

Or watch Rebels, or visit the Disney Galaxy Edge. Or play the new DLC for Outlaws which is marketing with Hondo as the main draw. If you don't engage with a lot of the media I can understand not knowing who people are. That being said I do think he isn't big enough for a GL. But at least he's 100% pirate.

It's just not very exciting for end game players, many of these characters we have no connection to.

They could have made the version of Thrawn, who had the tags "Imperial Remnant" and "Nightsisters", into a legend. And the pirates would get their own fraction and we would get a new raid without legends, like the raid "Battle for Naboo" before.
