How to upgrade era levels on the new Marquee F2P?

Coliseum rewards are inaccessible for f2p. You cannot progress past the first reward, meaning your character gets stuck at level 5 or 6 unless you buy packs.

I unlocked and completed the marquee tier 1 and 2 for Stormtrooper Luke, which allows you to take Luke to 3 stars.

I then decided to buy the 1.99 currency pack and 299 crystal materials pack, which took my 3-star Luke from Era Level 5 to 7 before the upgrade materials ran out, leaving me with only currency. I used my 4 remaining attempts but was unable to get even the 2nd reward in tier 1 for dealing 20% damage, even with the packs.

The first reward grants 25 mk1 grek ability module, and that is not enough to upgrade the character's era level, meaning you cannot do any more damage on your other attempts, and therefore you cannot earn further rewards in order to upgrade your character to do more damage, so you can earn more rewards... so on and so forth. It's a broken catch-22 system.

How are you supposed to upgrade the era level to reach level 65 if you cannot inflict enough damage to earn more materials and progressively improve your character? Forget level 65, you can't even get 1 level higher.

The first round has ended, and the second round with the Tomb Guardians has started, and it is the same.

CG said that all f2p players would be able to reach 65 and unlock the character later, at g12 and ability level 7.  But as it stands, the only way to increase the era level is by buying packs with crystals or money.

Am I missing something?

  • I am doing the F2P route as well, and it will be interesting to see if I do get the toon to GL12 at the end and having saved some Kyros in the process, to spend on my remaining GL12->13 instead.

In the past, I already brought all toons immediately to GL12 and Zetas directly from the marquees. I am not short on those resources. The only hold up was the stars, and I'm not sure how this will be different under the new system.

I'm not going to yell at them though. At worst, it's the same with more optional steps. I will see.

I have the same questions. I'm not seeing a way to get any Era Level Currency other then to buy it with $$$$ or Crystals.

  • The press release for the update implies you will be able to get 4* and fairly high era level on the characters ftp… I don’t see how that’s remotely true with this trashy ‘content’

  • What am I suppose to do with all of this if I can no longer upgrade my toons?

Same issue. I got to level 7 yesterday. Today I am stuck at 7 because I can't do anything to increase damage and you can't get mats to level up without increasing damage. Either we are missing something and they think it would be fun for us to waste time discovering it on our own or this is the same math they used when they said the raid rewards were going to be better when going to the new raid system.

You can buy packs with crystals, which is technically "free to play", but you have to spend time hoarding them, and not everyone can afford to allocate them as a resource if they are developing their accounts anyway.

I'm waiting for the executor event now, so I'm not using 1-2k crystals to upgrade an era character I can't even use in the game.

It was a bait and switch by CG. f2p without packs won't be able to get era characters to level 65. No shot. Even with crystal packs, I think you'd struggle getting anywhere near level 65. The sheer amount of materials and currency needed is too high compared to what you generate in-game and in those packs. It's simply a pay-to-win feature.
