The death of strategy in swgoh

Delta seems to have killed the entire basis of what attracted me to this game, beyond that it's star wars. I'd expect I'm not alone in that. A large part of what's made this game fun over the years is facing a difficult task, be that a strong pvp team, a difficult assault battle, a difficult character unlock event, etc, then reading kits, figuring out synergies, and developing creative strategies to overcome. That aspect of the game has seemingly died, by design. Tried a few different high relic comps against the assault battles yesterday, and it just didn't matter what my comps were anymore. My high relic characters were able to just brute force their way through everything. Did some tooling around in character events I'd preciously done, like the gas event, the DR and malak events, and the 3p0 event. Strategy is no longer necessary. Just take your characters to high relics and you're done. Which really means, open your wallet and your done. Thought is no longer required. Half my pvp defense is pretty well **bleep** because they're not all high relic across the board, so single members of the teams can be sniped out and the teams fall apart. That's not strategic. It requires no thought. By my view, the death of strategy in this game is the death of fun in this game. Well done CG. You've finally done it. You've sucked the last semblance of fun out of this game and have made it a daily chore. Well done.

    i’m not really defending cg’s sledgehammer that is relic delta.  What im doing is refusing to call lazy design decisions good.  Instant defeat mechanics are lazy design.  my r3 dn should not be the key unit allowing me to counter reva or gungans or jmmw.  Instant defeat mechanics suck.  CG created poor teams that were overpowered offensively that they could never figure out how to prevent.  i’m bored with traya being an answer.

    i also don’t think any counter is dead just the level they are viable has been changed.  I don’t know if cg got the numbers right it is way too early to say, but any counter should need to be revisited at least every 2 years to remain viable.  it’s been longer than that since i touched traya(r5), oSavage(r5) or Dn (r3) not to mention my r3 sion.

    i just disagree that this kills strategy. Smart players who spend the time thinking about interactions between kits are surely going to find weaknesses in relic delta design and build teams that exploit those weaknesses.  i believe it will lessen the cookie cutter design of gac/tw.

    As for pve, i just don’t see the need to force players to walk up hill in the snow both ways.  Thrawn at g8 was done because cg missed the mark on the gear economy.  Malak and GAS are now missing the time constraint aspect that increased the dopamine reward from finally beating them.
