What economy changes?
The State of the Galaxy post says We’ve already mentioned some bigger changes coming to the economy Well, what economy changes? I don't remember any posts about changes to the economy.

Hope they finally move crystals from arena to GAC. Since they'll never fix the two broken tier on ships.
This doesnt seem like its in the plans, as we have heard nothing about it since it was kind of mentioned. This seems like it would be a touchy subject for a lot of players and they probably thought best to avoid a very community breaking change.
The idea I see in a similar vein to this that could work, would be, not necessarily a change from one to the other, but an increased income from GAC. much like when they added ships and offered a new path to earn a decent amount of crystals. This would fall in line with economy changes, as an increased crystal income could help alleviate some of the gear stress, and lessen the need for other more drastic gear changes.
Did they specifically say that they intended to move crystal income away from arena and into other areas?
I think they are already making moves to shift the focus from arena in other ways:
Want zetas? You can’t buy them with crystals - focus on your fleet.
Want GAS or Malak? You need GET for them, crystals won’t do it.
Want to slice up your mods? Better focus on GC because you can’t get those other slicing mats otherwise.
Crystals are no longer the only viable currency in the game and focus on only arena is not sufficient to keep pace.
we can agree to disagree, but crystals are the most versatile and best overall thing to accumulate in this game.
edit to add: you can focus on maximizing your crystal income as your only goal, and you can do good in just about every other aspect of the game.
At one point they fielded a question about moving away from arena as a primary source of crystal income. that is all we have. They have not brought this up again and there have been changes to the team since then. so who knows at this point.
I don’t remember the exact wording of the statement. I know it was around shifting rewards/focus away from arena, but was it specifically about crystals?
I’m just pointing out that since that statement, they have introduced rewards (linked to other game modes besides arena) that you can’t buy with crystals.
There was a point before that where pretty much everything could be bought with crystals. That’s not the case anymore.
Yes, crystals remain very valuable but focusing your resources on a single arena team and ignoring everything else is no longer a viable strategy because you will lose out in those other areas.
And at the same time, those other game modes also help a lot with gearing. In fact the cost of many of the g12 pieces (eg. 5750 for a furnace) mean that I’m more likely to get them from other sources aside from crystals.
I thought it was, but maybe not.....but what else do we get from arena that players would want or care about getting shifted away from there.
yes, you can back track the cost of items gained to crystals, but those only payout that much when you actually get them. so a possible chance at a full piece from the sith raid (for example) may be more in theory, but in practice you can still work things out and stay more flexible reliably getting first in arena than you can always being first in the sith raid. just as an example.
I agree we have seen more sources of other stuff, but that requires widening your roster, which is harder to do without that source of income to help refill energy, quicken farming for both characters, gear and all the other mats you now need.
either way, I see your point that they have widened the focus of the players trying to keep up at the top end, but its still all based on a solid income from both arenas.
