How does a team with worse stats get a huge TM advantage at start?

First GA match, against an Ewok mirror team. I thought I would walk it, as I’m all g12 to their g11, and much better speed than my opponent. Somehow his 179 Paploo went first, followed by Logray, and then the expected onslaught. I almost lost Chirpa. I managed to rally and win, but now I’m suspect about my other battles. How could he have had such a big TM advantage on me at the start despite worse stats? Every one of my bears is faster than their fastest...

I apologize if this question belongs in character strategy, but what am I missing?
  • So you’re running a Paploo that is faster than his Paploo?
  • No Paploo on my team. His Paploo is 179 and my Wickett is 229. I know Paploo gets a 25% boost at the start, but how could that trigger a huge TM advantage even though Logray is their next fastest at 189 and my bears are all 200+?

Now I do feel like this is player strategy, and I’m just not understanding how the mechanics work.
  • Was it a full mirror match? i.e, did you have your own Paploo? And was he faster than your opponents?

Also, did the opposing Paploo start with Galvanize?

Paploo has +25% speed when not taunting so your opponent had about 225 speed. Galvanize grants +10% TM to an ally. This combo might explain things.

(My response in the duplicate thread copied verbatim. I know some questions have been answered.)
  • Ok. Think I solved it. The 25% Paploo boost put him even w/ my Wicket. Then he called Logray to assist, who triggered the TM onslaught. Sorry for not thinking it through before starting the thread. Appreciate the feedback.

Yes thats it. Things can get out of control quickly. Under human control Elder is usually called to assist first.

Surprisingly, with equal mods, I think Paploo can be one of the top few fastest toons in the game. Kinda bonkers Really.

Which move did the enemy Paploo use?

I call logray always I think the AOE daze and TM drain in the best start .
But might be a ebb and flow.
