Sims 2 legacy - suddenly crashing no error message

• Are you playing the Sims 2 Legacy Collection (released January 2025), the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (through the EA App), or an all-disc install?
• Are you using mods or custom content, and does it help to remove this content?
• Is your Sims 2 user folder, the one that contains your saves and other user data, stored in OneDrive?  Please check even if you think you know.  Right-click the folder and select Properties > General, then look for the Location.
• Is Smart App Control enabled on your computer?  It was causing problems with Sims 4 for a few days but may not be anymore.

Please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I believe it was the original. Since they brought out the 25th bundle which now has bonus content.

Im playing the ultimate collection version and seem to have the same problem as people playing the legacy version? Ive had the game for years playing on and off and never had this problem before.

I just experienced the same issue 4 days ago and have been trying to figure out what to do. I have been playing for months with absolutely no problems or issues with everything working as expected. Now I am able to get into the game, but there is lag and when I attempt to leave the lot with a sim to go downtown, vacation, etc. the game will always crash on me with no pop-up window or error code shown. I am playing on the Sims 2 Legacy version through the EA App and have no mods. I attempted to remove the .cache files and tried to turn off shadows (all of which I was able to play with previously without issue). Unsure what the issue could be or the cause. Hopefully EA sees this and puts out a fix as it appears to be affecting a lot of users! We just wanna play our fave Sims game, please help! 😭

I'm glad it's not just me.  I've been playing with no issue since April 2025 and then last week one of my Sims aged from baby to toddler and then her head turned invisible after I changed her hairstyle. 

Ever since then, the game won't recognise my saves and crashes when I try to take my sims Downtown or on Vacation.  It's happening across multiple families and even with families in a different neighbourhood.  Any suggestions for a fix as my game has become completely unplayable :(

I'm so happy to hear that this problem is not just mine. I have been suffering with the same problems all of a sudden (getting into a world but then crashing with no reason when trying to enter a household, facing disappearing when changing appearance) and I have followed all the advice in the feed. I thought it was a MOD or something but removed all of those, in addition to uninstalling and reinstalling. Just hoping this gets fixed!!

I'm sure I'm going crazy with this issue! I was playing delightfully, then bum! My game of 1 hour playing has crashed and I immediately thought it's related to the latest version of Windows 11. Aynways, I opened Ea Games library click on the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and there was an option saying ' repair' You know what happened? It became worse! All the graphics turned into like it's 2004 again lol. I also searched forums, asked chatgpt and even sent e-mail to EA Games. Ea games customer servies is not like before. They answered me saying ' you can search your problem in the forum' lol. I decided to downgrade my windows to Windows 10. I don't know, I just wanted to save my game. It was a nightmare, even though I had saved my sims and applied in the new game on Windows 10, all my characters were gone! Suprisingly, I do not know how it happened but ended up saving my 10 year back sims not the latest ones. I was searching this problem, glad to encounter I'm not the only one but bad news: Nothing has changed. Ea Games should update the game to the latest version of windows 11.
