I'm a Sims 3 fan. You're right about the expansion packs and add-ons for The Sims 3. I'm currently playing with my expansion packs and add-ons.
I bought them in bulk on Leboncoin, except that some of the ones I bought when I wanted to install them, like on Vista, the codes were already used, or I didn't have the correct original CD in the box. I was able to write a message to the person who sent me the Sims pack, explaining that the code was already used. When she replied, she explained how I should proceed, but it didn't work. Next time, I'll buy them in blister packs; that's not the case right now.
As for my platform, I'm on 1.67.
