- SolitaryBeingNew RookieIt's sad but true.
(Also forgot to include an option for real estate whoops) - My sims keep getting richer and richer but there's nothing I want to spend the money on. It's not that I want to hoard the money but that I am not interested in investing in real estate or businesses. I only ever remember to buy a car for my sims when the first child becomes a teen and wants to learn how to drive. Before I installed Generations and teens didn't need to learn how to drive I would never have bothered with a car at all. The only time I buy new things is when my sims roll wishes to buy something worth X simoleons or when I have installed a new Store set that has an item I want to try out.

- SimplyJenRising SpectatorMy sims start out really struggling because of different mods I have in place. Eventually, after paying off multiple loans, they start to get back on their feet quick if it's a large enough household. I use those funds to buy expensive cars so each sim doesn't have to pay taxi fees anymore and if they move out, they'll have wheels. Also helps balance out the money... but I have been known to use familyfunds cheat just to take away money if their earning too much.
I guess I'm kinda strange... I like to see my sims struggle financially which is pretty darn cruel. This is interesting to see all of the different play styles here. :) - ZombieParySeasoned Novice

My sims do this too.
They invest, and then hoard all the income. I don't let them have luxury cars and all that stuff. They don't need it. They just live normal lifestyles with large bank balances. - Other: Use it to slowly build a house. If I get 300 simoleans will buy like 2 single wall sections and if the next day get a few hundred more repeat till have a starting little box to live in.Eventually adding here and there randomly to see what I end up with.Along the way will suffer without things cause you save a ton of money waiting for that 9 or 10 sleep energy score bed than you do buying and selling cheaper ones.
Will do without a shower for example and clean up at the gym etc till can buy that good 3K simolean shower. The only thing I do like early is that uber cheap Suite Dreams double bed it came with Showtime that only costs 560 simoleans it has a sleep energy rating of 7 so is a good investment even starting poor. - IreneSwiftSeasoned NewcomerI have them invest in businesses, but also buy better appliances, plumbing fixtures, and furniture, especially beds. When they can afford it, I move them to bigger houses. Sometimes my households move several times in their lifetime. I'm currently playing an acrobat living in an apartment in Bridgeport. I get a bit tired of my sims having to use elevators to go into and out of their homes, so I'm considering having her move to an apartment with stairs instead, one I've already made or will make for her, before she moves to the expensive two story, 3 bedroom house I made some time ago specifically for small lots. I'll have to bulldoze one of the starter houses to place it for her. But she has a great view where she lives now, overlooking the butterfly esplanade and the ocean, so I'm kind of reluctant to move her away from there.
- KevinL5275Rising TravelerI just started a game with two female roommates, and one of my first tasks is get enough money for a plumbot to do the cooking, cleaning, gardening, and nanny when the kids come along. But this time, I didn't put a plumbot store in town. I decided to go to Oasis Landing and buy one there.
Once they picked enough flowers, sold enough insects, etc, to afford the trip, they headed off to the future to pick out their new plumbot helper. Emit gave them a few tasks like he does, and one of them was to fly around with a jetpack. Then take a look at the statues of important people in the town square. Low and behold, both of them got a wish to "check the lotto records" while they were near the City Hall. *evil grin* Well, who am I to deny them that?
So once they returned back to their present time, they "played the lottery" and sure enough, they won $100,000. I donated $50k of it to the "Plan for the Future Fund" and earned the statue for the first time. Then they built a plumbot store in town with the rest and are making a fortune selling plumbots to the rest of the town.
Now to find them husbands who love them for them and not for their money. :D In the meantime, they're quite happy with their plumbot since I gave him the "capacity to love" chip. I'll say no more. o:)
PS: If you really are making more money than you know what to do with, you can use NRaaS Money Module in Story Progression to increase the property tax rate AND the income tax rate. - I don’t like my sims to have too much money because I like them to have challenges.
But one of them keeps setting fire to their home lot with a magic spell and insurance grants them 500,000 simoleons in fire damage. Even though only a small patch of ground was singed <_<
Thus my sim family kept on racking up the moolah. So now they’re millionaires from insurance fraud :D
I just pretty much spend their nefariously earned money on renovating their house since it’s a huge mansion. Lol - NikkeiSimmerSeasoned Adventurer

Only luxury I give them is...

Makes them have "OMG...I love this house"-high...moodlets all the time. :D
