Download content from Sims 3 Store

I recently purchased two packs from the EA Store and successfully redeemed them in The Sims 3 Store. However, when I try to download either pack through The Sims 3 Launcher, the usual installation pop-up does not appear. Additionally, when I hover over other buttons in the launcher after I click the "Install " button, a white overlay appears (makes the buttons almost disappear) , and the interface becomes unresponsive. I've already tried clearing the cache in the EA App and reinstalling The Sims 3 Launcher, but the issue persists. For reference, I’m not using any custom content in my game and I'm using a Mac. I attached a screenshot of what my launcher looks like.

  • lacy9265  Sorry for the late reply.  When downloading a world, it often shows up as a generic icon first, as you're seeing, and only a few (5-30) seconds later changes to the proper thumbnail.  I've found that if I try to install the world in the interim, it fails, and other already-installed content can break too.

Anyway, please go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and remove the Downloads folder.  Nothing in this folder is required once you've installed the files through the launcher, but you may want to keep backup copies of at least some files if you don't want to have to download them again.  Point is, remove the folder so the game creates a new, empty one.  Download Monte Vista and wait until the thumbnail changes to a preview of the world, then close the launcher and reopen it before installing.

If you don't see the installer, look for a second plumbob in your Dock, and click that to bring the installer's window to the front.  The window can take a few seconds to appear as well.

How long does it take for the thumbnail to show for the world. After a couple minutes my launcher just closes and now when I reopen the launcher and go to the download section the launcher starts crashing

  • lacy9265  Try removing hte Downloads folder from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.

If that alone doesn't help, remove the entire Sims 3 folder and download one Store item, then see whether it can be installed properly.  Moving the folder will remove, but not delete, your saves and other content.  That can be restored later; for now, just let me know what happens when you test.

I’ve already tried this and the launcher just crashes

  • lacy9265  Please create a new admin account on your Mac.  Don't link it to your Apple ID (you can skip this step).  Open the EA App and repair the game (Sims 3 > Manage > Repair), then try to download and install one Store item.

If this doesn't work either, please let me know whether you use a third-party antivirus or some kind of cleaner app.
