Game Laucher; game load; game play and proable path issues

Sorry, but I have troubles understanding what your actual issue is

Were you not able to install the game ? Do you get an error wile loading ?

What's your operating system ?

I was running the Sims 3 fine until as I posted about an error message I had.  Then it seemed all H broke loose.  I have tried many simple fixes including checking driver updates; windows updates; game updates etc etc for more then 4 days.  I was begining to believe that there was a path issue since I noticed conficts with what is loaded and what shows as being loaded on both the launcher and the Sims 3 homepage and my own computers records.

Now after update the launcher for the endless time (at least 5 each of thoes 4+ days) the game does not launch at all.  I was able to get the game to run by going to a saved back up on my external hard drive.  But after the last update the game does not launch at all past my atempt to start a new game it truly goes to a double black screen and can only be cleared by ctrl + alt + delete  or by Forceing a shut down. 

I even browsed your lovely site but didn't take any action since  the game seems to get worst with each effort.

Will I have no other option but to purge and spend yet more hours reinstalling?  And if so where do I get the pecking order since it took hours the last time I will have to take brakes since I prefer to be Jane Doe and not have internet at home.

If I am still unclear please tell be how.  Oh by the way in the real world I do have friends.

What is your base game version right now ?

Open the launcher and check the number in the lower left corner.

Did you already try renaming your user folder ? That's probably the first step I would take.

Also when did you buy the game ? Before or after sept 2012 (base game) ?

the info I posted here is all found on the Launcher.  Which is itself very iffy.

Don't see an answer to those though: Did you already try renaming your user folder ? That's probably the first step I would take.

Also when did you buy the game ? Before or after sept 2012 (base game) ?

(and please don't make me go back and forth to your blog post for info. I do this on my own time. Not working for EA and not getting paid for it)

Which folder where to change the name of?  On my first post the info. was found somewhere on my info while logged into Sims Community.

All in this folder are purched and registered CD except for the Pattern Tool.  (again obviosly)   

I also have to more cd that were installed and registered  The Sims 3 World Bundle  and Dragon Valley

the list that goes to black screen: riverview; hiddensprings; bridge port; monte vista; sunset valley

the list that hangs on attempt to load Barnacle Bay and Dragon Valley...never goes as far as above.  I must excape or force closure.

I mean this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims3\

This is where all your savegames, Store content, custom content and other individual files are.

If you rename this folder to thesims3_old and let the game create a new one, then you have a clean game and can try if the game works that way.

If it does, you can start putting stuff from the renamed folder to find out what was causing the issue.

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

If you have any questions let me know but please try to be specific which step you don't understand.

This is really to prevent reinstalling of the entire game since it's much faster and easier.

Hi again:  Latest atempt.  I did a search on C: where I copy and pasted the folder to rename old and didn't get a hit

I went down to where it says Libraries>Documents

I don't see any folders at all so I choose "Aranged by type"  I have a stack of rectangles called The Sims 3 Custom Content

I boldly attempted to rename no rt clk or edit Rename choice so I tried to use the head text on the "open contents in a new window" where I put old at the end of the string. 

Restarted the PC

attempted to load game got as far as loading Dragon Valley.  I went further then ever before (I have not played this vers. it was a recent download)  I finally saw the inside of AArons house before it went to 2/3 of my PC screen as a black page.

I will have lunch and try to reboot my brain with a little DVD watching.  Yesterday I saw Robi Kauker of EA, inc.  talking about moog synth vrs. Modular Synths on "I dream of wires"  (Hardcore Edition with extended cut)  wow we have come a long way.  I was certified in PBX at one time.

Really don't have an idea what's happening.
