Mac - Freezing on the loading screen while traveling

Everytime I try to travel to University, Oasis Landing or any of the World Adventures worlds, my game freezes on the loading screen. It won't keep on loading even after half an hour or so, with the music playing. It's been a huge problem for me for the past 3 days, please help!

  • Hi @irembaskan,

    It could be RAM related, I'd suggest resetting your RAM before playing The Sims 3, here you can learn how to do it.

    Hi, thank you for the reply! This might be the solution for my problem since my used memory is only 3 GB but the sudo purge thing just won't work. It doesn't give any errors on Terminal but the "Memory Used" thing won't go any higher either. Any solutions for this?

    It depends on wich version of OS X are you running. If you're running OS X 10.8 or older, simply type purge.

    Please note that:

    • You need to be system administrator in order to use sudo commands in Terminal. Please check that your user is Administrator of your Mac. If not, please ask your ystem administrator to give you Administration privileges.
    • After introducing sudo purge, you need to type your password and press ENTER

    I am the admin. Apparently, if the higher, "Memory Used", the more used memory (basically), meaning that mine being about 2/3 GB is actually okay? So, my problem is not RAM related I suppose.

    I read on some site that this problem comes with the Into the Future pack. I uninstalled it and re-installed it, tried to go to France, went out for an hour or so and it was still stuck on the loading screen. There's no way for me to contact advisors via phone call since I don't like in USA/UK and the phone bill will be really high.

    I'd again appreciate if you had any other solutions, thank you so much! ☹️

    @irembaskan

    If you want to contact EA, you can do it via Help Center, and talk with an EA Advisor via Live Chat. Maybe they can find a solution for your issue 🙂

    If the purge/sudo purge command doesn't appear to be doing anything it will be because your Mac doesn't have any available memory to free up, it's basically all being used. I'm guessing that your Mac is quite old if it has 3Gb RAM, did it have 2Gb initially? Also, RAM should always be installed in equal pairs to optimise performance, eg. 2x 2Gb, 2x 4Gb etc.

    Have you been editing Lots in the places you're trying to travel to? Could there be any erroneous CC causing conflicts?

    Have you tried moving your Sims 3 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto your desktop and letting the game regenerate a new one? Is it still impossible to travel?
