Sims 3 wont launch via Origin

@SharketteLaw92  Your dxdiag is full of errors that don't necessarily have anything to do with Sims 3.  You can look elsewhere for related errors, but first, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, open the Reliability Monitor: hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes.  You'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  For any error that mentions Sims 3 or Origin, or any that happened at exactly the moment you tried to launch the game, right-click on the error name and select "View technical details," then copy the info and paste it into a reply.  You don't need to copy identical errors; just let me know that there were a few of them.

If you don't see any errors, please say so, since this is also useful information.  I'd also like to know whether the Sims 3 launcher initially opens when you press Play in Origin.  Finally, let me know whether you've ever had two EA/Origin accounts merged.

Okay so there were no errors for the restore health thing, I'm just running the scan now. And yes, I had games transferred from one account to another account 

The sfc scan is finished and the message is:

Windows resource protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them

I did the reliability monitor and there are no errors for origin. Sims 3 launches but crashes the origin app but there aren't any errors for that either

@SharketteLaw92  The question is, when you press Play in Origin, do you actually see the Sims 3 launcher at any point?  It's a separate pop-up that looks like this:

If you do NOT see this pop-up, I suspect that the account merge is the issue here.  The two symptoms of a merge issue are that the launcher doesn't even open and there are no related errors in a dxdiag or in the Reliability Monitor.

If you do see the Sims 3 launcher, then there's something else going on.  Do you see any errors that happen at the same time as you try to open the game?  You may need to check the timestamps in the technical details for each error—I remember that the timestamps on the main Reliability Monitor page used to be inaccurate at times, although I'm not sure whether that's still an issue.

Nope. Doesn't show up at all. On my last computer, the game was running via origin and that was only a year ago and I was using the same ea account then as what I'm using now

@SharketteLaw92  Okay, I think the issue may well be the account merge.  The fact that your game used to work fine doesn't mean it will automatically still work now, especially when Origin is still getting updates that can occasionally change how it handles Sims 3 and other older games.

Please contact EA customer support and ask about the status of your base game product key, not only whether it's on your account but whether it's active and valid.

Just finished talking to an agent. The key is valid and active. He says the game is on my account fully. I'm just wondering if I'd encounter this same problem if I download the EA app instead

Good news. I've Uninstaller origin, reinstalled it plus sims 3, the launcher shows up and now its saying origin is required to play the game although I've launched it directly via origin

The app doesn't have all the features of Origin yet, and you probably couldn't install your packs using it, but some people who have trouble making Origin cooperate have been able to get the game to launch through the app.  Your packs should still load even if the app may not list them as owned.
