World Adventures items disappearing from inventory :(

So I'm not really sure what the heck happened, everything was working fine but then all of a sudden my sims 'return home' from China OR Egypt and all the tomb items, or adventure specific things are just gone. I tried putting them in the buy mode family inventory to see if that changed anything but it doesn't, the items are still gone. The only thing I can think of that changed was I bought more EPs and installed them, but I only run 3 EPs per 'household game'. SUPER frustrating. Tried traveling back to Egypt thinking maybe they'll reappear there but nope. So how the heck am I supposed to bring copper from egypt to fix something in China when it disappears when I leave? Also I need the pangu smasher thing to actually complete tombs and that disappears too.. I've 'repaired' the game, I don't have any external CC, only what I've downloaded from EA with simpoints, no mods- the occasional testingcheats because I want to do the tombs quickly because they're fun puzzles but this is ruining my love for the game rn :/ Halp please!
