Modified Foster Challenge

I recently decided to do @simlady36's Foster challenge, but when I read the challenge, it seemed a little easy because it didnt have many rules. I decided to modify the rules to give it more of a challenge. All credit goes to @simlady36 for posting the original challenge which can be found here. Hope you enjoy.

Note: This challenge is still being play-tested. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post in the thread. Since this is still in testing, the rules are subject to change.

Objective:

  • To adopt and raise 50 children.

Setup:
There are 3 Modes for the setup phase. These were added to include Story Mode in the challenge.

  • Easy Mode: Design your Sim your way and have Money Cheats available to set up your house.

    • Start a new file and set the lifespan to normal.
    • Make a young adult sim to start the challenge with. Do not use Story Mode to make your sim.
    • You may use money cheats to set up your house.
    • After your house is complete, set your money down to 10,000 if you used money cheats on the house.

  • Medium Mode: Use Story Mode to determine Traits, Aspiration, Starting Skills, Career, and Starting Money; have Money Cheats available to set up your house.

    • Start a new file and set the lifespan to normal.
    • Use Story Mode to make a young adult sim to start the challenge with.
    • You may use money cheats to set up your house, but remember the simolean amount that you get.
    • After your house is complete, set your money down to the simolean amount you received from Story Mode if you used money cheats on the house.

  • Hard Mode: Use Story Mode to determine Traits, Aspiration, Starting Skills, Career, and Starting Money; No Cheats Allowed.

    • Start a new file and set the lifespan to normal.
    • Use Story Mode to make a young adult sim to start the challenge with.
    • Move into a house and decorate it with the simoleans you receive from Story Mode.

Rules:

  • No cheats after the setup phase.
  • Before you can adopt children, you must have your sim find and get married to a mate.
  • You must adopt a baby. No adopting toddlers or children.
  • You must randomize your children's traits.
  • Before you age up a baby, it must be their birthday.
  • You may age up a toddler only if you reach level 3 of all toddler skills or the game ages them up.
  • You may age up a child only if you reach their A grade and you finish your aspiration or the game ages them up.
  • You may age up a teen only if you reach their A grade and you reach the top of a teen job/after school activity or the game ages them up.
  • The child will not count until they become a young adult. If the child dies, or gets taken by the social worker, before they become a young adult, they do not count toward the 50 children objective.
  • If one of the parents dies, you may not adopt any more children. You must age the youngest child up to a young adult and find and marry a mate for that person. After you do that, you may continue adopting kids.
  • If you have the GTW expansion pack, and one your current parents get abducted, which results in a pregnancy, that will count as an adopted child, provided they make it to young adult.
  • If you have the parenthood pack, you must have no traits in range for negative character traits to age up a teen on your own. This is not to say that the bars for character traits can't be red, but you cant receive a negative character trait.
  • If you have the parenthood pack, you must set a curfew.
  • If you have the parenthood pack, and someone is assigned a project, you cannot age them up until the project is complete.
  • The challenge ends when the 50th child becomes a young adult.
  • Oh trust. I stopped playing for a while. I've adopted 4 kids. One is moved out, one is a teen, one is a child, and one is a toddler. I need to get back into it.
  • I'm doing this! Doesn't seem to require any expansions that I don't have (which is all but Cats and Dogs and Discover University). (Medium)

    Spoiler

Meet Stewart Elkins, the MC of this challenge.

Here are his Story Mode stats. Kind of sad that he's Evil, but whatever.

Since I'm lazy and terrible at building, I decided to live at Parkshore in Willow Creek, with a few motherlode commands, a money reset, and a quick clone of my sim to reset the money aspiration.

  • I love this @dythia Ngl, I don't even remember what difficulty I started at, but I'm pretty sure I started with hard so that I could test it. If you have any ideas, please feel free to share. I am limited on the packs that I have, so there might be packs that you own that I don't that you can give some insight on. Any feedback is helpful.

Also, I read through and just wanted to note this in the rules.
Before you can adopt children, you must have your sim find and get married to a mate.

Obviously, it's your save, so you can play it how you want to, but I just wanted to note this for you.
  • For anyone else playing this challenge, I want some feedback. I haven't updated this challenge since before Lifestyles and Likes/Dislikes came out, so how should I incorporate these features into the challenge if at all?

Oops, didn't see that in the notes.

Since I don't have the Lifestyle expansion, I can't speak for that. However, Likes and Dislikes should just be normal, none applied in CAS, but if the popup appears, the answer should always be "Yes". You could then modify the life of your sim based on that. For instance, during a period when the baby was asleep, I got a notification saying Stewart wanted to like video games. I would then set up a gaming side career for him.
  • I didn't realize Lifestyles came with a pack ?
I think I agree with what you said about likes/dislikes tho.
  • How often are y'all adopting? And do you get simoleons from the "government" to help with kiddos expenses? I used to play a similar challenge created by Macthekat and there were rules about when to adopt, what days, if the kids had good grades they got extra funds from the "government", honor roll got them even more money such as scholarships, etc. I'm probably making it harder than it needs to be, but I feel like I'd end up with a ton of kids (and slightly out of my mind) if I adopted every day!
