✈️ Travel Should Be More Than a Loading Screen
Expansion Pack Idea: The Sims 4 – World Traveler ✈️🌍
Hi everyone!
I've been a longtime Sims player, and one thing I've always wished for is a travel expansion that makes the journey just as exciting as the destination.
Right now, our Sims simply choose a vacation world, sit through a loading screen, and arrive. I think it would be amazing if traveling itself became part of the storytelling experience.
✈️ Expansion Pack: World Traveler
This pack would focus on everything that happens before and during a trip.
Features I'd love to see:
- Applying for and renewing passports
- Tourist visas for certain destinations
- Booking flights through the computer or phone
- Packing functional luggage
- Choosing airline seats
- Airport terminals with shops, restaurants, and waiting areas
- Security checkpoints and boarding gates
- Flight attendants, in-flight meals, and realistic plane travel
- Customs and immigration when arriving internationally
- Jet lag and travel-related moodlets
- A Travel Skill that improves with experience
- A Travel Journal where Sims collect passport stamps, photos, and memories
I think random travel events could make every trip unique, such as:
- Flight delays
- Lost luggage
- Free seat upgrades
- Missing a flight
- Meeting new Sims while traveling
These kinds of moments would create memorable stories instead of travel feeling like a loading screen.
🏨 Separate Game Pack: Hotels & Resorts
I also think hotels deserve their own dedicated Game Pack rather than being included in the Expansion Pack.
Features could include:
- Budget hotels, luxury hotels, beach resorts, mountain lodges, and eco resorts
- Hotel check-in and check-out
- Room service
- Housekeeping
- Concierge services
- Bellhops and valet parking
- Hotel pools and spas
- Honeymoon packages
- Five-star hotel ratings
- The ability to own and manage a hotel business
Why I think this would be fun
One of the best parts of The Sims is telling stories. Imagine your Sims rushing through the airport to catch a flight, getting upgraded to First Class, forgetting to pack their swimsuit, or celebrating their honeymoon at a luxury resort. Those are the kinds of memories that make gameplay feel immersive and personal.
I think splitting the concept into an Expansion Pack focused on travel and a Game Pack focused on hotels would allow both ideas to be much deeper and more enjoyable.
Thanks for reading! I'd love to hear what everyone else would add to a travel-themed expansion. Happy Simming! 💚
