Cross platform ownership (once again)

Once again I am asking for this update because not only is it important for me but other simmers. I own several sims 4 DLC packs on my Console and there is no way to transfer them to pc unless I buy them again. I really there is an update which allows you to transfer packs. It is really important

  • Unfortunately this is not as easy as it might seem to us.  While we only pay one store front (be it Sony Marketplace, Steam, or the EA App) other platforms require a 'cut' of the profits from all sales through their respective platforms.  Due to the nature of Steam still requiring the EA App running also, this is already possible for content to transfer.  However, for console to console or console to PC transfers, that would require re-negotiation of the entire deals with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo so that they still get their cut of the profits for what is essentially them having to give you games for free.  Nintendo especially is very notorious for a hard "We do not cooperate" stance with other games.  For example, a popular Battle Royale game does not allow currency purchased on Nintendo Switch to be used on other platforms.  No other platform has this restriction, and the reason that the game has no Nintendo licensed content is also because Nintendo strangely insists that not only any Nintendo characters added to the game only be usable on their platform, but also that you can't even see their characters on other platforms... something the makers of the game obviously can't or are not willing to do.

  • What you are asking for is impossible. The platform formats are complrtely different, which is why they can not be transferred between one another. They had to create a different team to build a at the time 3 year old PC game using the console kit tools from Xbox and Playstation.

Well, it's not a format issue, it's purely a matter of permissions of the companies that own the platforms, as I said.. If they allowed it, you just would download the DLC on your console as if you purchased it, even if you purchased it on PC, or vice versa.   Also, lets be honest, do you really think EA would even try to make such a deal with the consoles to allow you to get the DLCs "free" on multiple platforms?

  • Yeah that's simply not possible. The PC version and the console version of the game are seperate versions of the game.
