Name Order Option for Asian Localization

Hi everyone! Since the Sims 4 developers have recently started gathering player feedback, I’d like to bring up a long-standing request regarding name order in Asian localizations.

As I mentioned in a previous discussion (this post), some language localizations in The Sims 4 apply their own name-order rules. For example, in Korean, we naturally use the [Family Name] [Given Name] order, so the Korean localization displays Sims’ names that way, which is the reverse of the English version.

However, in The Sims 4, the vast majority of premade Sims, townies, and worlds are Western in origin. Korean players typically preserve the original name order for foreign names (e.g., “Bob Pancakes,” never “Pancakes Bob”). Even when introducing ourselves in English, we often reverse our own names to match the global [First Name] [Last Name] convention.

Because of this, seeing Western names displayed in reverse can feel unintuitive and immersion-breaking, especially since Western cultural settings are the norm throughout the game.

I believe this issue applies to Japanese and Chinese players as well, since we share a similar name-order system.

I sincerely hope the Sims 4 team will consider adding an option that allows players to choose their preferred name order in the base game.

Thanks so much for reading, and I hope this is something the team can consider for future updates!
