Pack exclusive dress in event

Hello! So sorry if this has been said before, I looked around for a while and I can't find anyone talking about it, but this is about the Enchanted By Nature pack exclusive dress that is free in the Lost Legacies event. I think this dress should be made non pack exclusive, there is no gameplay tied to it, and other than being kinda floral inspired there's no reason to have it be EBN only! I don't want EBN, it doesn't really interest me, there are other packs I would way rather buy. A dress has no reason to be something you need a specific pack for, in the forever friends event we got a free pair of shoes, it would have been so weird if they came as a pack exclusive and you could only use them if you own Outdoor Retreat or Adventure awaits. This is so stupid! The other pack exclusive things are fine! A horse saddle you obviously need a horse to use and the memorial table is tied to gameplay in life and death, so that is totally understandable. But a "free" dress being paywalled behind a $40 pack you may not even want is ridiculous.

TLDR, There is a "free" dress in the event that you need Enchanted By Nature to get access to, but there is no reason to tie it to one specific pack when it's just a dress. I want it to be available to everyone for free.

(Side note, I play on console, so free clothing for my sims means a lot to me because I can't use CC)

  • I agree, I find this ridiculous. I could understand the other pack exclusives like the table because they had pack features tied to it but this is a bit too far, it's a beautiful dress as well!

  • agreed. Why lock something that has no gameplay tied to it to a pack?

I think they are testing it out - Events started as everything you unlock gets added to base game. Then they started adding items you unlock being pack exclusive.

I guess now they are testing out locking things that is not actually pack exclusive to packs as well, like that dress. Maybe next event there will be shoes locked, or a hairstyle, or shorts... Maybe furniture that is missing from sets released in packs, you know how there might not be a shower in a pack you bought but a toilet. Well if you complete the event you can unlock it! Wouldn't that be generous and lovely?

While it is annoying to unlock something you cannot use, I can understand when it is for packs you don't own that have gameplay like the thing from B&H and as you mentioned horses. Also kind of nice to get stuff like for C&D, because we will never get anything for pets in any other way.

But to lock that dress behind a pack sets a precedent in my opinion, and not a good one. The events have already devolved over the years from exiting and interesting with gameplay, to point and click text quests. Now we just need to wait for the already devolved unlocks to get worse.

I understand they are a company and they need to sell, but this is not the way to go about it. Look at the companies/ studios people love, they will buy whatever whenever just to support. Because the company is not trying to trick them at every turn (we make what you love and you buy - simple. I guess maybe made with love as well, but I don't know how many TS4 developers can say that :/ ), they are transparent and they fix things. Everything about the Sims 4 is about making more money for less work, less satisfaction, less everything

Don't give an inch and take things aways - like boyfriend/ girlfriend/ husband and wife being removed after years to then be a pack exclusive with Lovestruck, or having a child with the Grim Reaper was possible in BG but now (I am told) is locked behind L&D.

I love the sims. Always have and always will. But it is frustrating when things get worse, devolve right before your eyes. And there is nothing you can do about it.

  • I understand if they lock an item with a pack in terms of pet outfits. Or an activity/hobby item/object (let's say they had a throne skin/model for R&L) that is for a pack only. But pretty much everything else shouldn't be locked behind a pack.

  • I agree, it doesn't make sense to lock a regular CAS outfit behind a pack. I can understand it if the content can't be used without the pack (pet outfits, saddles, or the build buy items like the ticket kiosk) But this is a dress. Any sim can wear a full body outfit with just the base game.

EDIT: I would like to add that I have enchanted by nature. I am not posting here to get the dress. I simply think it's wrong to lock an item behind a timed event AND a 40$ price tag if the item can be used without the DLC

  • My opinion is that they are testing different ways to make players buy packs they otherwise might not purchase. It could work, especially since many in the community have severe cases of FOMO. While the dress looks great, I am not buying the expansion because I have no desire to play fairy occult sims. THe reason it may be locked behind that pack is because of the clothing style it may be clssified under, but I highly doubt many players even search by those tags.

I only purchased the Vampire pack for the victorian furniture. I have never played that occult. It was half priced before I even considered it. My teens purchased the Spellcaster pack and the Werewolve packs becasue it had gameplay they were interested in and we share my EA account.. Adding extra items to be pack exclusive isn't going to work on me, unless I was already planning to purchase a pack when it gets to a sale price that I can justify. The EPs with occults were normally purchased for the content that did not involve the occults.

  • I agree, an outfit should not be locked behind a pack requirement. I do own Enchatned By Nature, and I enjoy the pack. I saw this dress and thought how beautiful it is! But I still feel that icky feeling in my gut - it should not be available only to those that bought EBN. It should be available to everyone. It feels so wrong.

  • It's just a dress—NOT A FEATURE. I would understand if it had a gameplay feature, but yeah, that's just a dress. A feature is a BENEFIT (VALUE) and a REAL incentive, but not a basic mesh with no functionality that can be used in the base game or anything that can be used in the base game. 🤨🙄

Yes, they are testing if you are willing to buy this pack because of the dress. Guess what? Me? Surely not. Why? Well, there is CC for that.

Putting basic meshes that don't entail a feature and locking them behind a paywall? It is just so wrong on many levels.

    Another thing—Meshes for BASE GAME:

    • EVERY feature that is available in base game - has to be free
    • NEW features? If added free to the base game? Yeah, they should also remain free—no excuses!
    • What is meant to be free for everyone? Should remain free for everyone!

PS: Whoever is in charge of this decision? Needs to re-evaluate what an INCENTIVE is and how a customer BENEFITS. ✋🏻 😶

Literally this. I am totally for adding to older packs, the pet outfit was so cool (and i don’t have C&D). The memorial table is sick (i don’t own L&D). I am all for adding items tied to gameplay, but if an item is not completely reliant on a pack exclusive feature then there is no reason to hide it behind a $40 pay wall except greed, period.
