Defending the Crown: Fighting Back and Survival
Fighting Back Against Usurpers
When a Usurper tries to make a move—like challenging your Sim to a duel for the throne or trying to rally the public against you—there should be ways to shut it down.
- The Royal Duel: If a Usurper challenges you, your Monarch should be able to accept a "Trial by Combat." If you have a high Fitness or the new Swordsmanship skill, you can physically beat them back and then use the GUARDS! command to have them thrown in the dungeon right then and there.
- Bribes and Blackmail: You should be able to use the servant household (the Spies or Butlers) to dig up dirt on the Usurper first. If you find a "Scandal" on them, you can blackmail them into leaving the kingdom or strip them of their noble title before they even get a chance to seize power.
Saving Poisoned Sims
Poisoning shouldn't be an instant "Game Over." There should be a window of time where you can save your Royal.
- The Royal Apothecary: You should be able to have a servant or a family member with high Gardening or Logic quickly brew a "Royal Antidote" using a new rare ingredient like "Kingsfoil" or "Dragon Fruit."
- The Food Taster: If you have the new Service Wing tab, you can assign a specific servant to be a "Food Taster." They would eat the meal first—if they get sick, your Monarch stays safe, and the Guards are automatically alerted to search the kitchen!
- Emergency Medical Care: There could be a new "Call Royal Physician" interaction on the phone that brings an NPC over who can treat the poisoning for a high fee, giving you a second chance to save the heir.
Guard Reactions
If an intruder is caught near the Royal Bedrooms, the guards shouldn't just stand there. They should have an "Apprehend" animation where they tackle the intruder. If the guard is successful, you get a notification asking if you want to Exile, Imprison, or Pardon the intruder, which would affect your "Fairness" or "Tyrant" reputation.
