OMG after some digging I found out EA is evil when you sell a pet as a breeder I obvs thought it goes to an NPC a random townie or something it's doesn't they delete them forever and currently there is no obvious mod to fix what they did it's ridiculous! I mean how hard is it for EA to just place a sold adult pedigree pet with a random townie in your save! I honestly had no idea.
Also to "pay" your current household for the pet you just need to use the Transfer Funds option to transfer the price of the pet from the new household to the selling household.
I use manage households, too, to move pets to a new family as an "adoption" or a "foster" situation. I also tend to go into manage households periodically just to check for singleton pets (cats, dogs, horses) left on their own either on a lot or 'not in world' and I give them to a family so they're no longer strays. 😊
QuirkyJamie there is a way around that. Go into Manage Households and move the pet over to another household yourself.
That's how my rescue shelters work. Some Sims visit and choose stray pets to Adopt using the Cat/Dog Hangout lot trait. But if the pet is part of a household like a pup or kitten born in game, I use Manage Households to move the pet to it's new home. That way I can also go to that home/household to set it up for a pet.
