We Need a Better Way to Import Sims Into Worlds

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I honestly don’t understand why The Sims 4 doesn’t have a built-in way to directly import Sims from the Gallery into our world without extra steps.

Right now, if we want a Sim in our save file, we have to:

  • Create a new household
  • Move them onto a lot
  • Or place them somewhere random in the world

On PC, some players use MC Command Center to add Sims directly into the world population — but console players don’t even have that option. So why isn’t this a base game feature?

We should be able to:

  • Select individual Sims from the Gallery
  • Choose “Import to World”
  • Assign them as townies, NPCs, coworkers, classmates, etc.
  • Add them without having to place them in a household or on a lot

It feels unnecessary that we’re forced to create households just to get Sims into the world. Not every Sim needs to own property. Some should just exist as part of the population automatically.

This would:

  • Make world-building way easier
  • Help console players who don’t have mods
  • Reduce cluttered households
  • Improve storytelling saves

Why do we need a mod to do something that feels like it should already be part of the game?

  • You do not "need a mod" to import sims. All I do is import the first one to a lot. You can then evict them. You can then easily add sims from CAS to the world by just doing the same, but can bypass putting them on a lot by exiting out of the place on lot screen. I don't use a mod to import sims. It can take me maybe 10 to 15 minutes to import a dozen different households. Btw, I play via PC.

  • I want to edit/manage world without having to create/move in a household. I like a template master world to start with that is "New" no time played, so I can fully customize before I even see live mode.

I'd like this to include family tree editing at the manage/edit world level. Setting and/or locking skills (Lock Skill/Career Gain Progress Type Feature | EA Forums - 12598218), adding career (including level), and even hidden traits while in CAS.

I want to set up a storyline and characters beforehand (even by cheat adding reward/hidden traits), and all the setting up I have to do in live mode is annoying. And I noticed bugs if I save these set up households, so fresh Sims/households/save files are the safest but the most work.

What I wouldn't do for this to be at manage/edit world level, and if that could be added to the gallery—would be even better!

I do this but in all honesty, having a saved no time played (as every EP I pretty much have to re-do this to prevent bugs) world template file, and edit/manage world before creating/playing households first (like in Sims 3) would be just so helpful.
