I think part of the problem is framing.
"It took them 10 years to..."
I mean, it didn't. It took them a while, I'm sure, because making video games is hard work- they concept out features, they figure what's feasible and what isn't, they decide how to handle them, they have to design and develop the visual elements, etc etc etc...but saying "It took them 10 years" makes it sound like since 2014 they were struggling to figure out how to add burglars.
The fact is, they simply didn't consider them a priority. That's a different thing than "It took them 10 years".
(It's also weird you cite the tintaverse video showing that the Sims 4 burglars are- as many Sims 4 versions of features are- better than the earlier games by a wide margin, but then use it as evidence they didn't do a good enough job...)
And then you go on to say "The base game isn't worth money". My dude, it's been free fo- oh, you know it's free. But you're still...commenting on its value as a paid product. Which is isn't. So...who...cares? Why does that factor in at all?
You'll enjoy the game a LOT more if you look at it genuinely and with honesty and respect instead of going into it wanting to be upset so badly that you are upset about situations that don't exist.
Honestly, I do not really understand why you think I am upset. I was simply sharing my neutral opinion and personal thoughts about the game. Just because I mention a few things I think could be better does not mean I am going into it wanting to be upset.
That is why I also do not quite understand why you are trying to relativize what I said. I still enjoy The Sims 4 and appreciate the improvements that have been made. My feedback was just meant to share a personal perspective, not to attack the game or the developers. I do get your point about prioritization versus development time, and I agree that it is an important distinction. My intention was not to imply that they had been actively working on burglars for ten years, but simply that it took a very long time for that feature to return, which many longtime players missed. Also, I mentioned the Tintaverse videos to show that The Sims 4 has improved some aspects, but that does not change the fact that some players (like me) felt it was missing for far too long. As for the base game, my comment was more about how empty it feels without expansions, not really about its current free status.
