Why can't we play the way we want?

I've been around since the Sims 1.  Owned everything in both 1, 2 and all the worlds and packs in 3.  I have most of 4.  I just really started play 4 at the end of last year, simply because it was so limited in the beginning.  That said, 4 annoys me in a way none of the others ever did.

Why can we not turn off certain features, like occult and aliens?  I have MCCC, but they still pop up in my other households.  Yes, I understand you need aliens for certain aspects of Strangeville, but again, why must they spawn EVERY SINGLE NIGHT?  I bought supernatural expansion packs I really didn't want, but due to limitations in the number of lots, I wanted more choices at a lower price point.  Yes, I currently have 272 active sims, and another 400 or so in my other households.  For some reason, even though I have Aliens and Occults at 0 and have deleted every single one, I still spend twenty minutes every night having to clean up the mess.  It's also spawning others and not pulling from tray (which has over 300 sims in it).  I have the tray at 100%.  A simple toggle would be fantastic.  Same with sexual preferences.  Start them blank.  There is nothing more irritating than having a sim fall in love with someone, only to be rejected due to preference.

I have read that AI will replace most programming jobs.  Here's an idea EA, why not get one to clean up the horrible, bloated code in this game, instead of making people wait months for fixes for things you broke?

I didn't like Inzoi, and I haven't played Paralives, but you are not longer the only game in town.  You have made hundreds of millions of dollars over the years.  Why not put some of them back into games people enjoy instead of **bleep** about?

I have been playing since 2000, and I this is the first time I've ever started a thread.  Do you feel my frustration?  You should.  There are tens of thousands more like me.

  • So if I'm understanding right, you bought occult packs you didn't want, are upset that your game now has occults in them, and are blindly trying to force the game not to spawn them even though the game is REQUIRED to spawn them to function, and you're trying to force it not to happen by using a mod incorrectly?

The game WILL spawn aliens when it needs an alien-related thing to happen. That is simply how the game works. It WILL spawn werewolves to fill in critical werewolf roles. That is simply how the game works. It WILL spawn vampires to do vampire attacks- that is simply how the game works. It WILL spawn fairies to fill in the main fairy roles. That is simply how the game works.

Telling MCCC "Dont spawn any [occult type]" will not stop these things because they are core, critical functions of the game. When the game needs an alien, it either uses one that already exists, and if none exist that fulfill the requirements of what it's trying to do, it makes a new one.

If you did not want that to happen, you should not have bought the pack that creates an occult you do not want present in the game.

(Which wasn't strangerville, by the way- it would probably also help if you knew what packs had what content in them. Also, no previous entry in the series let you turn off specific occults, either.)

(BTW, AI will not fix anything you don't like, the game isn't poorly coded in the first place, and they DO put money back into the game: That's why you're still playing it 11 years later and it's still getting updates 11 years later and it gets more updates more often in the past year and a half than it ever has or any sims game ever has.)

  • I am also a new Sims 4 player (since L&D) and long time Sims player who play all the installments. I too felt it needed more packs before I could start Sims 4 (well almost skipped it when I thought Sims 5 was coming out) but I also started Sims 3 late (since Supernatural). I also have tried to be very careful to not buy packs that may have features that would annoy me.

But I am the opposite player, I love the occults, but I completely understand how frustrating it is to lose immersion in a game. I wish I could remove cellphones (I have various mods that stop sims from looking/playing at their phone), I don't have builds with computers or tvs, etc. I do need mods, because some things drive me up the wall in this game. But overall I am at a good place with the game—and I am also liking the direction they seem to be going.

I do hope more toggle features and more manage world features get added to give the player more customization. My gawd, I'd love if we could manage large family trees editing via edit/manage world (which include NPCs we usually can't edit/manage (looking at you Nyon Specter and link you up with your Grim Reaper daddy (instead of the long cheat way))).

However, as mentioned in their surveys, they prefer more in depth feedback. Venting/aggro/ultimatum posts can/may just be ignored as they aren't the most helpful and usually lacking details or compromising.
