Woodworking should be it's own separate skill

I think handiness and woodworking should be two separate skills rather than the way it currently is with woodworking being governed by the handiness skill. Just because you can sculpt a convincing-looking owl, that doesn't mean you know how to fix a broken toilet, and vice versa.

Along similar lines, I think Royalty & Legacy ought to have a blacksmithing skill so that Sims can forge their own swords. Give us a forge and smelter. Metals and elements already exist in the base game anyway. I know there's already a blacksmith in Verdemar where you can have a sword crafted by paying with money or the right materials, but the selection is limited, and it would be nice if a player could take this up as a skill and perhaps make a business of it (crafting and selling swords).

  • I never understood why the woodworking table skilled up handiness. Wood crafting IMHO is a creative skill—as Handiness is a mental skill.

However, I do like that some activities that skill up in very small increments. Such as Panning for Crystal and Digging Crystal Rocks can increase Gemology. That collecting frogs increase Natural Living Skill. If maybe the Woodworking table or Gemology table added a small increment of Handiness (as you are working with tools) I could get on board with that.

I'd also love a blacksmith skill, with a forge and smelter (it be nice if smelted ore in to bars then bars can be used in lieu of ore for the Gemology table (similar to how prep-ingredients can be used (or not) for cooking)). I'd also like if the blacksmith had (for cross-pack capabilities) the ability to make horse shoes for horses, armor, swords, and other weapons.
