Alien Sim wiped memory of spouse on Prank Day on his own???

So, I'm playing with a lovely little couple, one alien, one normal sim; they're married and expecting a child any minute, then prank day pops up. "No big deal" I think - I don't like prank day and never participate in it, so it's not the end of the world or anything right? Nope. Of his own accord, out of nowhere, my alien just erases his pregnant spouse's memory with his brain powers. Completely out of nowhere, without my input, just erases every trace of himself from his spouse's memory. It especially sucks since I haven't saved in a few hours...

I'm not using any CC or mods at all - just pure vanilla game with its expansion packs. I have to use the console to try and fix this absolute mess.

Are aliens supposed to be able to erase others minds on their own whims like that? Because that's both stupid and completely and utterly insane. Seriously, this has just completely derailed the entirety of my gameplay.

  • @Takata_Cheroki Is there still a dazed moodlet? I read that It may be undone after the dazed moodlet leaves in a couple of hours?

A couple of possible ways to deal with this that come to mind are:

In the future if this is a thing with this couple you may want to save more often, especially before prank day. Then when something like this happens you can exit the game without saving.

  • I am really sorry for you, @Takata_Cheroki. And of course for your sim.
And I am also really sorry that I really lay on the floor laughing about the situation.
On the other hand that is what playing the Sims is all about. You have to be able to be in control of your sims. I like prank-day and I keep a very close eye on the actions of all the sims in my households. Many times I just pauze the game and make a series of interactions to avoid damage.
During playing I also make enough saves to be able to return to a moment that suits me more, especially when I want to save a sim from drowning or dying of laughter.
So, it is hard work to stay on top of your sims actions but that is all in the game.
  • There was no dazed moodlet, and I did indeed have to use cheats to fix things. It was especially awkward because I there was no cheat to just make them be registered as eachothers' spouses again, and my poor pregnant sim went into labor just before I had them propose and elope.

On the bright side, baby Vera was born healthy and the family tree didn't forget who her dad was.

@Takata_Cheroki Thank you for updating us, and I'm happy it worked out after a fashion - that was a decent salvage, all things considered. What a relief that the family tree was intact and you have your new baby. Congrats, and enjoy! 👏

  • Happened to me too. Wasn't even prank day. Just when they get in a certain mood. So weird.

@SisterGloomy Yes, you're correct. 👽If you play an alien it's probably a good idea to save often (like with the Murphy bed, if it's not upgraded) and to keep backups. this way if this happens you can either leave the game without saving or recover to a backup. (I included a link with directions for that in comment #2). 🤞🏻

  • Oh. Em. Gee. That is awesome!!  😂

I actually really like when they go all uber-autonomous and surprise me.  🙃

By modifying your calendar so every day is prank day and making a slight tweak to your gameplay game plan, you’ve just discovered a 50 First Dates meets Memento 🕳🐇 of fun!

  • Same thing happened to me just now, only instead of the human sim being pregnant they were married with a toddler in my case. I didn't get a dazed moodlet either. I was so upset I had to google "Sims 4 alien prank day glitch" to double-check if it was meant to be placed in intentionally. I get the devs probably thought at the time that it would be funny to have an alien have the ability to wipe people's memories men in black style, but to have them go ahead and do that without 1. communicating to the player that this is possible in the first place and 2. letting the alien sim do so of their own free will is just ????? I really hope this gets fixed, but until then I guess I'll have to use cheat codes.
