Cannot pay bills and now no electricity

The pay bill function is not working. It is showing a positive amount of $20.00, but it still shut off the electricity. I do not have any mods downloaded; just the basic game and expansions. I have tried moving my Sim, paying the bill on another lot, I found a paper statement in my inventory but I can't pay it either. No matter what I do, I cannot pay the bills and wherever I put the Sim, there is no electricity. I've searched the forums and online for solutions and nothing works. Please help!

    RavenDarknight  To help you further, couple you answer these questions please?

    What platform are you playing on?  PC, Mac, Xbox, PS4/5

    If on a computer, are you using mods and/or CC?  And if you do, have you tried removing the mods folder and testing to see if it happens without mods installed?

    Does this only affect one household, or does it affect all households?

    What world and what lot did this first happen on?

    Have you tried starting a new game and does it happen in the new game?

    Have you tried repairing the game?
