CAS deleting households

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.105.345.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Every expansion pack, game pack and stuff pack.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Enter into CAS through the cheat command while in your current household, it will bring up a random sim, and then even if you leave the game without saving, the current household you were in is gone.
What happens when the bug occurs? Occasionally when I used the "modify in CAS" command the game will load into a random sim which isn't the current household I'm playing, and if I back out or leave the game without saving the current household I'm playing with is deleted entirely. There is no trace of them and if I try to load their lot it either displays blue boxes where they should be or the game acts like the lot is empty. I have to recover the previous save just to continue to play them
What do you expect to see? I expect my current sims household to stay and not get randomly deleted
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

So, yeah, randomly when I enter into CAS through the cheat menu "modify in CAS" my current household will just get deleted from the game and have no trace. I've tried this with "Modify in CAS" and with MCC CAS which had the same outcome when the bug occurred. I'm scared to change any of my sims features out of fear that I'll lose significant progress and I'm unsure how I can fix this issue.

  • @FaeofTheNorth I just tested in my game and the Modify in CAS cheat appears to be working normally for me. Please try saving a copy/backup of your game before-hand (directions below), then test in a vanilla game (no Mods/CC, and removing the stated cache file) as directed below and see if the issue is present then.

    Saving a Backup:

    Spoiler
    Go to:
    Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4
    Copy the following folders:
Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, Recorded Video
    Paste the folders:
Paste the folders locally on your computer, on an external drive, &/or a flash drive. I recommend choosing two or all three of these locations.)

Alternatively, you could just save the whole 'The Sims 4' folder.

    Testing without Mods/CC:

    Spoiler
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can then test without saving in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue. Then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.
  • Hello there! I know it’s been a while since you posted this but I’m having this exact issue in my game right now. I select modify in CAS, a random sim appears and then the household disappears from my game, only leaving those glitchy blue boxes behind.

I don’t know what to do and any help would be really appreciated 😔

Hellohelenofthesims If you use mods/cc, try moving the whole mods folder to another place, delete the localthumbcache.package and then test to see if the issue remains without mods/cc there.
