Constant Anger or Sad Moodlet

I have not played Sims 4 in several years, however, I have kept it up to date and added new games despite not playing as I enjoy the game. Recently, I have started playing more and enjoy the new aspects, however, I have 2 sims that daily (Sims daily anyway) will get angry for 4 hours then sad later. Angry is always relating to being controlled by "someone" and sad is because an aspiration was not met or whatever. I know this is new and it is constant to a point I spend 2 sim hours a day trying to get them to calm down to then do what they need to do such as homework, school, work, etc. It is so tiresome. I am not familiar enough to know when it began, only that I have not played in over a year (since Eco was released) and this was not something that happened constantly.

Please bear in mind when I cheat and force make happy, it is not enough to remove either moodlet and causes me to again need to get them to write out their frustrations.

Game has been repaired several times, I have never, ever, ever used mods in any of the 4 Sims games ever. I am on a laptop that has always run this game no issue.

I do not know if extreme emotions is now part of The Sims 4, but I hope someone has a suggestion. Both sims are different, both sims have completely different aspirations and likes etc.

Hoping someone can help, Thanks!

  • I'm like you. This angry moodlet is annoying and frustrating. My Sim seems to get angry all the time for no apparent reason then will not carry out tasks I set for them. It's putting my off from what was an enjoyable game. I hope the developers get rid of this addition or I'll start playing less. I hate it with a passion.

I've found that one way around it is to have a Sim who is both a Goofball and Cheerful, Cheerful on it's own wasn't enough. They still get the Moodlets for Sad or Angry feelings but they stay Playful and carry on with their day. It can kind of cancel out the "sadmad" of it all.

I also turned off Wants and Fears and Lifestyles. Yet another feature switched off for being buggy as all heck. It's a shame because picking up those reward points for Whims used to add up nicely but they took away my Whims. Wants and Fears were just randomly depressing my Sims and were totally unrealistic. Same with Lifestyles unfortunately. A popular sporty Sim completing Athletic aspirations and getting promoted almost daily in the athletic career should not arrive home every single day sobbing on the doorstep of her fabulous (if I say so myself) mini mansion full of adorable and loving doggies while I'm yelling at the screen "seriously flower, what is your problem"?

Edit: So my Cheerful/Adventurous Sim was so homesick I brought her home twice and she was still homesick for a few hours in her own house each time.

@simsplayer818 I absolutely hate the fears. The wants are okay but the fears are buggy and excessive, I have turned them off ever since they fixed the toogle

I have the issue with the homesick moodlet immediately being put back on after the time runs out.  I don't mind the sadness part of the moodlet, and I get that sometimes there are sims who can get homesick, but what frustrates me and doesn't make any sense is that I'll have 3 sims on a vacation and every single one of them gets the homesick moodlet and it will immediately reapply itself when it runs out.  So for the rest of the vacation they're all homesick which doesn't make any sense no matter what kind of traits they have.  If it popped up every now and then and maybe had a higher chance of popping up on sims with certain traits then fine, but at this point I don't even want to send my sims on vacation anymore because every single one of them will end up getting this moodlet within a couple of days and just have it reapply and be there for the rest of their vacation no matter which sim it is or which world they took their vacation in.  Like everything else in the sims 4 it's so overdone that instead of it being a neat little addition to the game it's just annoying and ruins an aspect of the game for me.

  • One of the best things to override anything is a radio and 1 music preference that they like. If they are getting angry, they may be hot headed which means anything will set them off and sometimes they will end up in fights. Ran into an exception to where sims won't do anything to remove the tense because of aspirations that were added on like the energetic lifestyle which gives a permanent +5 do nothing tense with no timer. (Removed this assigned lifestyle in CC because I disagree with having a negative status, trying to do something the sim likes, and they won't do anything at all while they have the tense. My sim liked fishing, he would not fish, my sim likes skiing and he wouldn't skii, he likes cooking and he wouldn't cook, he likes singing and he couldn't sing. Normally, I use a radio to help clear things but if you have certain traits, similar to hot headed, maybe something in lifestyles, they will get angry more often.
