@milliecol2002 Having seen this in my game I understand how you may want them to make room for other Sims in the household.
The suggestion from @RavenLure was what came to mind. The "long lived" trait from completing the bodybuilder aspiration could be a factor.
There are ways to "help them to move on".
Move them to another lot and let nature take it's course. Probably not ideal in a legacy challenge.
Let them die a happy death. {{Ahem}}
Have the tell jokes (Royal We Microphone) while playful. Hysteria can kill a Sim.
Happy WooHoo especially in a rocket ship for death by exertion. Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum. I've googled loads to see the death time period of an elder sim. Most websites have stated 48 hours after the bubbles appear, and those (like my elder) with the 'Long Lived' trait will last about 2 weeks. Well... for my elder it's been about 5-6 weeks now and he's still kicking... I've got it set to the 'Long' lifespan and the Auto Age is set to 'Only Active Household' As my family has 3 generations living in this household - he's living with his daughter, SIL, and two grandkids - it's getting a bit hectic to manage them all so I mainly take care of the 4 sims and let him do whatever he wants as he's retired.
Basically it's got to the point where even my fiance IRL is asking if grandad is dead yet, haha. Anyone else experienced this or something similar? I've got the seasons pack and we've basically gone through an entire year and he's still alive which is why I know it's been 5-6 weeks since he got old...
I play on the PS4 too, so I'm wondering if it's different between PC to console as that can happen between games.
Speak soon!

With the long life trait it's different with each sim once I had an elder with the long life trait that only lived an extra week another time I had one with the long life and athletic trait and he lived an extra month in real life time. Does your elder sim have the athletic trait by any chance.

On long life, and depending on the traits, elders can last an incredibly long time.
But if you are willing to speed the process, you can give him a death flower scented flower arrangement.
Hope this helps.

@milliecol2002 Another thing you can do if you are willing to speed the process along is to give the elder a death flower scented flower arrangement. You have to have Seasons though.
Hope this helps.
@Rachelharris31 That's interesting to know. I didn't give him the fitness perk, his SIL does have it though, so good to know for the future...
@CGrant56 I haven't heard of the death scented flower. I'll have to do some googling and see if I can find some information on it. Is it from a particular expansion or pack?

Look at Carl's site for the details. Sorry, can't post links here.
It comes with Seasons. You make a flower arrangement and scent it with a death flower.
I have this elder sim whose age bar has been sparkling for about a sim week! I received the notification to ‘get his affairs in order’ about a sim week ago too. He doesn’t have the bodybuilder career, and his wife died from old age earlier so I can’t overexert him, I’ve tried to with other ways, and I’ve even tried to over exert him with a cheat, twice, but it never worked? I love my sim and all but I need to make some room
Do you use any mods? If you're using MCCC & flagged the sim as immortal (& forgot), that would probably do it.
I don't remember if there are any options in the game settings that could be relevant, but it might be worth checking. If you have the longest sim life spans, for example, it may take longer than usual.
Good luck! and farewell to your sparkling sim, whenever his time comes. 😉
eta: Oho! There's a thread further down about this, with an EA response, too! Apparently it can take a long time for 'em to die on long lifespan settings.
If you enjoy reading threads about this, there's still another one just a little further down. Hmmmmmmm, that's three threads on the topic; wonder if it's taking longer than usual since the patch???
I did some merging. Carry on.
