Unable to add more roofing pieces to a downloaded residential rental from For Rent. I'm getting a "Not expanded to ops" error. When I searched for this error, I could only find this error linked to a certain apartment in City Living.I downloaded a set of townhomes on the gallery and placed it on the Ro Kaya Rockside lot. I wanted to add a fourth connected townhome for a shared space. When I went to add the roofing, I ran into the error above. Neither copying nor creating new roofing works. I'm not even able to expand the current roof over more. I'll try destroying the lot little-by-little to see if anything helps.Thanks!

Something strange happened with this lot. After not being able to add the new roof pieces, I gave up on that and went back to Live mode and had my Sim buy the property. My Sim then traveled there and went into build mode and -- there were all of the roof pieces I tried to place. I could tell it was those instantly, based on what I was attempting to get the roofs to work, like copying the piece next to it a lot, expanding that piece, adding different shapes, trying to add roofs on a lower level, etc., they just all appeared! I deleted all of my attempts to place the roof before and then it worked and let me place what I wanted.

I also had this issue. So I tried the go back in via live mode build instead of map build. Sure enough, all the roof pieces I was trying to drop in map build mode were now visible. Only thing is, I cant shape them to the house. If I try, I get the same "Not expanded to Ops" : (UPDATE: So after reading some similar issues on other forums with the bug in 2020 on 702 ZenView, the recommended remedy was to delete stairs. I unmasked all my rental properties and did the same, deleting all the stairs in the rental properties. Sure enough, I can now drop and alter roofs without getting the "Not expanded to Ops" error. If you're getting this error, try deleting stairs on all your properties one by one, and see if it fixes the issue. I didn't try in Map build mode. You may have to do it in live build mode for it to work.

I'm running into a similar issue with the same error. I am trying to use a fence to add designated outdoor spaces to my townhome apartments (please let me know if there is another way to do this). I create the fenced-in areas and use the interface to assign each area to each apartment, but I get an error when I try to delete the floor to expose the grass. The game still thinks that even as the property owner, my sim doesn't "own" that space, so I can't change it, which is bizarre. My townhouse building is pet-friendly, but the dogs won't go potty because there isn't a space on the lot without grass. The game still views these areas as off-limits. I could deem each backyard a shared space, but that's weird and defeats the purpose of private gardens. Can we have private outdoor spaces with residential rental lots?

I had this error and went around it by moving all of my staircases outside (just randomly) then I could place and edit my roofs. Then I moved the staircase back.

@zoiee2020 this worked for me, shame that this glitch has decided to manifest itself back into existance ☹️

I'm on a residential rental on Ro Kaya Rockside, I managed to get my roof on properly after switching from live to manage worlds a couple times but I can't put flooring or ceiling in my basement. Says "not expanded to ops" and even logging out, or switching to manage worlds, or travelling doesn't fix it. I tried removing the staircases in MY unit but it didn't work. The other unit is occupied so I can't remove those without switching units. Guess I'll try that next given I have no other options ☹️
EDIT: yepp. Go to manage worlds, build in my unit, remove stairs, back to manage worlds, go to other unit, remove stairs, back to manage worlds and back to my unit, do my building, put back my stairs, go back to other unit, put back their stairs, back to my unit for live mode. What in the actual heck. 😞

@koopakaya Also same, however it still wouldn’t let me place what I want. The only work around I’ve found is making 1-2 adjustments or additions to my roof, exiting the lot, loading back into said lot, and repeating the process… I’m on Xbox, so the time consumption is excruciating.

From what I can tell you can't change roofing while a unit is hidden. If you have any of your units hidden while working on roofing I suggest you attempt to unhide them :D

I had the same issue but with having built my own 2 houses on one lot. Each as its own rental. I just changed the lot type from “residential rental” to “residential.” You will have to go back through and add each room to its own rental after changing it back to the rental lot, but at least it worked.

I just had this problem. If your trying to make apartment you have to click and show each apartment while in the edit mode and it will then give you access to put roofing on.

I have just encountered this issue on a set of houses I built. On another lot, put in the gallery and moved.
Sick of the bugs on this game 😩
