Game endlessly loading/not opening

Every time I try to open the game on steam, it starts to load, the ea popup says "Preparing game", it does that for a minute and then briefly stops, just to start the cycle all over again. The only way to stop it is to hit stop. The same happens when I use the shortcut.

I play with mods, but I don't think they're the cause; I haven't downloaded any new ones since the last time I played and I've seen people with way more mods than me play the game perfectly fine.

I've tried: Restarting my computer, restarting steam, and opening it through the files.
