Re: How to turn off time-limited events

More power to everyone who is having fun, but I'm not. This event does not interest me, the rewards don't appeal to me, and the pop-ups interrupt my gameplay.

So far, the only advice I've gotten is to just run through the Reaper challenges as fast as possible on a throwaway save, to get it out of the way. There is no (obvious) way to just say "Um, thank you, but no thank you" and avoid the entire experience.

Ironically, I'm more tempted to STOP playing Sims until this whole thing is over.

I realized I clicked on the check mark, hoping to learn the details to see if I would even be interested. There wasn't any such option. Now, I, too, am stuck with the popups. I'm currently in the middle of a storyline I am sharing on this site. So frustrating. If I break to finish the tasks I have absolutely no interest in, I lose valuable playing time. For me, the whole thing is a lose-lose proposition.

I'm in the exact boat, I have never felt the need to come on these forums and complain however it's the fact that even after removing my mods and cheats and trying to do the same thing you did in a throwaway save but none of the achievements would update so its overall useless to keep trying. All my occult sims are super laggy and have been dysfunctional since the challenge started, they shouldn't push things that aren't fully functional on us even if they see it as "generosity".

I have had to stop playing The Sims both on my PS4 and PC! How much longer? I'm not interested in paranormal of any kind, why can I not have a choice of how to play a game I've paid so much for? 😡

Cheeky_Chiana  For PC at least, load the game, disable Online Social Features (under Options > Game Options > Other), quit, and delete accountDataDB.package, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  This should prevent the Reaper quest from showing up at all.

I shouldn't have to mess around with game files to fix this. I'm not comfortable doing that. This is ridiculous, I enjoy roleplay farming. None of this occult stuff.

It should disappear from our games soon. Sorry you have not been able to participate in the event.

You appear to have missed my point entirely. I DID participate, unwillingly, in the event. I did not want to, but it was so intrusive that it was my only option for reducing the CONSTANT interruptions to my usual gameplay.

I'm begging EA to make future events of this type OPTIONAL. Please!!!

Some of us weren't even given an option. I clicked on the checkmark, just to learn more about it. I had no idea that by doing so it would automatically opt me into this annoyance. It's disruptive to my gameplay. I'm very busy writing a story that I share with others. Diverting my time away from that even for a quick let's-get-it-done, throwaway save isn't an option. Also, the only way to foreseeably remove it from the game, also removes access to the Gallery, I have sadly discovered. This whole thing is unconscionable.
