Not having to do them, and not having the icon in your face the whole time are two different things, obviously. The complaint is about the icon stuck in screen, not having to do them.

@jpkarlsen Then why is it being shoved in my face all the time? Many players do not want the icons and there's nothing you can do about them. The whole point of this game is to do what you want at your own desire, but the Reward Events are a literal distraction that tries to take away the core point of the game.

You do not have to do any of these free events if you don't want to.

I can't imagine how much worse The Sims 4 is gonna be in 2025, especially since it really became a bloated mess this year. The shopping cart icon, the Reward Events that you cannot opt out of, and the full-screen prompts at the main menu all have really made it self evident that The Sims 4 is bloated. Also not to mention that I'm one of those players who PAID for The Sims 4, so I should NOT have to have pop-ups and unnecessary icons shoved in my face, which if anything feel like YouTube ads.
I also would like to disable these. I have no interest in turning Sims into a fetch quest game. If I wanted to do these I would play ESO or some other MMO type game.
I finished all the missions in the holiday event, so I thought I could finally play offline without the annoying icon in the upper left corner. When I started my vanilla save file I found the old Grim Reaper icon and opening it, the UI was buggy as in the attached photo. It displayed the missons of the holiday event but with the UI of the Grim Reaper event. I already tried deleting the cache file (localthumb) and repairing the game in the EA app, but nothing changed. Deleting the accountDataDB file is not a viable option (at least for me), because the one time I tried it, all the items obtained in CAS (tattoos, clothes, etc...) disappeared.
I only wish that once the event missions are finished, one can go back to offline play without the icon in the upper left corner.
Adding my vote - I have played this game for +20 years and sims has always been great because you decide what you want to do. I am all here for all the options to do more but make it optional - it stresses me out and overlap the things I actually wants to see in the top left corner… EA MUST acknowledge this…
Adding that I just came back to the game, to full screen ads and now Cozy Celebrations being stuck on the side of the screen. I am now uninstalling this piece of trash that is only a glorified shop.
Adding my vote and message to this - there NEEDS to be a way to disable these events that take up space and ruin the experience.

so this is not a solution, and the fact that you think it is proves how brainwashed by ea you are and I feel bad for you. we shouldn't have to risk corrupting the game by removing files and crap, AND lose access to the gallery just because ea wants to tell the player how they should play the game. I paid my money for this game, I have the right to play it as I want, not have to follow some bs rules just because the developers are getting bored sitting on their butts all day not fixing real problems.
