Not getting Adopt as Caregiver Option (PS4)

My Sim got married to Megumi Ito and while it shows in the Genealogy that she's Nanami's Step-Mother, I've at no point gotten the Adopt as Caregiver option either before or after the wedding. I'm sure I've gotten it before with other households, but for some reason not this time. I can't change their relationship in CAS even with FullEditMode turned on. Am I missing something? Is there some reason the option isn't appearing? The step-mother/daughter relationship shows up in the Genealogy, but not in the Sim Profiles. Will any of this affect the Successful Lineage and Big Happy Family aspiration benefits? Honestly, I don't care for how this is handled overall. It just feels like step-parents are being delegitimized. The old "you're not my real mommy" trope. Ugh.

    It does all sound a bit odd and overcomplicated. Thanks for looking into it. Hopefully the new expansion or a future patch simplifies and pays proper respect to step-families.

    @iamsweetmystery Yes let's hope so. They added Fiance in CAS, while Aunt, Uncle, Grandparents and Cousin are generated automatically as you link relationships together. Step parent should be the same instead of just Housemate. In fact they all should be there at the start.
    Fingers crossed for improvements to this soon.
